Today we celebrated the start of the Season of Creation which we’ll celebrate between now and October 4th. For today we used the theme of Living Water..the theme for this ecumenical and inter-faith celebration. Our texts were Ezekiel 47: 9 and 12 (the focus text), Genesis 1: 1-10 (what would the season of Creation be without Genesis, after all) and John 4: 13-14 (living water). What is our responsibility? I hope you find this meaningful.

Did you miss last week’s recording on Facebook? The week just got away from me and it never got posted. So here is this week’s worship. What a gift we had for special music. Mariah Baechle played the prelude on the piano and Teresa Wright sang the special music following the message. We are so grateful to them for sharing their gift of music!! Cassidy Buchanan read a book for the story for all ages. And the message for today was “Will You Miss Out?” Our scripture texts were Genesis 29: 15-28, Psalm 105: 1-11, 45b, and Matthew 13: 31-33, 44-52. Please join us for worship next week either on site, by watching livestream, or accessing the recording. Rev. Dr. Elaine Bast will be our worship leader.

What an amazing morning we had on Sunday. True Rd. Connections, Kendra German with long ties to St. John’s, brought us the message on the parable of seeds and soil from Matthew 13 also referring to Isaiah 55: 10-13 and Psalm 65. A Change of Plans with Devin Frank and Kendra, closed the message by singing “The Rose.” It all tied together to bring us a meaningful message. Won’t you join in our worship time.

This morning Lynn played The Battle Hymn of the Republic and America as a way to remind us of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 that provided freedom for ALL. While we aren’t there yet, we are reminded that freedom and equality and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all are what the Christ that we follow teaches us. Will we remember?

Our texts are Zechariah 9: 9-12, Psalm 145: 8-14, and Matthew 11: 15-19, 25-30. The message, “An Address, An Invitation, A Promise” The address…Jesus addresses us. The invitation .. “come to me all who are weary and carrying heavy burdens.” The promise..”I will give you rest.”

Won’t you join us next week, July 12th, when we welcome Kendra German and her ministry, True Rd. Connections to bring the message followed by special music from A Change of Plans with Devin Frank and Kendra German.

Have a good week.

Today we explored being Chosen! Abraham and Sarah, King David, Moses, Deborah, Miriam, Mary, Jesus, the Disciples, you and me. As I said to our kiddos, “Jesus has chosen each of us to share the Good News by being kind and caring to those around us. We can help those who are lonely and hurting.” And to all of us, can we select a person to whom we will pass God’s love this summer? Let’s try it. Won’t you worship with us?

Today we recognized our graduates. What memories..remembering them as 5 and 6 year olds when I began my ministry at St. John’s. They are embarking on a journey..so, as I always do on this Sunday, I read “Oh, the places you will go,” by Dr. Seuss. For the message, Journey On!, I shared the story of my journey from CT to OH in 1963. Realizing, looking back, how God was on that journey too. And that’s what we pray for our graduates. Won’t you join us?

We did it…I kept my fingers off the mic switch and it stayed on the entire service. No static, good quality, and good volume …at least for the in person worshippers. Would those of you who access the recording from home let us know how it came through for you? And It’s All Good…thanks to Evan Shurtz and Paul Holewinski! Today we heard scriptures about God as creator, Jesus sending us out, messages in a bottle, and the many names of God. I didn’t use Streets of Laredo with Psalm 8…stay tuned. Enjoy our worship. Have a great week.

Today is Pentecost, “the day when flames of faith dance in our hearts. The Day of Pentecost is here: the day when our babbling speech becomes the Good News for the world. The Day of Pentecost is here: the day when compassion seared into our souls. The Day of Pentecost is here: let the people of God rejoice.” Our main focus was Pentecost. A shout or whisper? Using Acts 2: 1-21 and John 20: 19-23, we explored the coming of the Holy Spirit as a shout or a whisper? Are you more comfortable with a shout or a whisper? Focusing on worship, we also heard words of remembrance for Memorial Day and Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones”. Wont you worship with us?
