Did you see?! On Thursday morning our co-manager Emily Widdowson accepted a grant from Ottawa County Community Foundation, Ohio! We are so excited that we can do some much needed work at our shop with this grant support! Thank you OCCF for making some of our revitalization dreams come true!

WHAT A MORNING! Today, OCCF awarded 37 grants totaling $138,551 at our Annual Grants Breakfast—the largest grant distribution in Foundation history!

We're grateful to the nonprofit organizations and community groups that are making a difference across Ottawa County every day. From serving children and families to supporting seniors, education, the arts, and community well-being, these organizations make an impact in the lives of so many. We know many garage sales have left overs but our volunteers have been very busy working with our shop and church this week. We’ve already taken in a LOT of donations and we simply do not have the man power or space for ALL of the generous donations our community wants to drop off. So we’re taking a week to catch up on donations (and also our rest!). Again, we are all volunteers.

Please hold your donations until later in the month. We can not save donations from the weather so please DO NOT leave anything outside—anything left outside will not be kept.

Hello Genoa and surrounding communities! We wondered if maybe the rain and grey clouds kept you home this weekend and we really missed seeing some of you!! Hopefully the weather gets better. In the meantime cloudy weather is the best weather for sorting! If you have been thinking about donating to our shop here are some of our top “needs”:

Home Decor
Bedding (not pillows or anything stuffed)
Towels (Kitchen and Bath)
Wash clothes (Kitchen and Bath)
Kitchen supplies

All donations can be dropped off at 105 E 4th Street (st. Rt. 163; the grey house with the electric sign in the window and the enclosed front porch) the front porch door is always open. We ask that you please double check the bags that you have brought with you to make sure you didn’t bring the trash! (Yes, sometimes the donation bags do get mixed up with the trash bags) Please, also check your items for any bugs or mice that may have claimed your items without your knowledge. Again, we asking from experience! We strive to put the very best “new to you” things on our sales floors. Broken items, literal trash and wildlife can not be sold…

An important note: due to our space constraints we can not take large furniture/electronics, appliances or baby furniture. We can not resell car seats, pack and plays, cribs, or stuff animals.

We really appreciate those who donate and we extend a big thank you for all of you who have helped give us the best loved and still lovable things! Thank you for thinking of us when you’re ready to part with well loved items!

Due to the extreme cold temperatures and uncertain weather conditions expected this weekend, our managers have made the decision to close the shop on Friday 1/23 and Saturday 1/24. Please stay home and warm! If you know someone who isn’t on Facebook and shops with us please let them know we are CLOSED this weekend!

We are excited to say that between an abundance of donations this week and an over flow of “restock” clothing—we were able to send 5 car loads from Genoa Trinity UMC Thrift Shoppe to the trailer for the Genoa High School!
