Last night at Midweek we wrestled through what Biblical Interterpretation is as looking at the relationship between science and faith! (Focused on Genesis 1 & 2)
Some insite to what we talked about:
1. God was present and involved in creation.
2. God created all things and calls then "good".
3. God created human beings in God's image and calls them "very good".
4. Humans are given a role in creation: to multiply and care for the world God made.
5. Genesus 3 expands our understanding by showing humanity's rebellion against God as sin enteres the world.
We could have spent a lot more time talking about whether Genesus 1 & 2 is scientific history, a poem or some other label--and yet miss the point of the rich description of God's desire and design for relationship! While interpretation is important, don't let debate about interpretation cloud your vision of who God is and what God is up to in our lives and in our world!
