“Knowing Christ and Making Him Known”
Andover Congregational Church, located in the village of East Andover, traces its roots back to the original parish church for the Town of Andover. The first minister was called in 1785 and our present meetinghouse has been used for the worship of God for over 200 years. Times have changed but human nature and need hasn't, and neither has the good news of Jes
us Christ and the Kingdom of God. Andover Congregational continues to be a place in the town and area for people to find God and for Christians be in fellowship, worship, and service through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are called here to worship and glorify God, to follow our Lord in compassion and mission to the world, to make disciples, and to support one another in love. Our goal in our Sunday service is for us to minister to God by our worship, for us to receive ministry from God in His Word and Sacrament, and by the Holy Spirit for us to minister during the service to each one as we have need before God. Our worship service blends the historic Christian traditions of worship with contemporary praise. We desire to be sensitive to the gifts and leading of the Holy Spirit
As we are a community church, this means we serve believers who come from different Christian denominational backgrounds. At least half our members come from Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist and other denominations; or none! Andover Church is not a place for “perfect people,” but for those who, admitting their sin, are receiving from God’s grace and looking to grow and change. We are expectant that God is doing a new thing in us and among us for His glory. Visitors are expected; believers and seekers are always very welcome!
