Founded in 1812 as a mission church in the South Carolina backcountry, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral has grown to be one of the 20 largest congregations in the Episcopal Church. Located across the street from the South Carolina Statehouse, its beautiful campus is anchored by its newly restored sanctuary. Trinity’s historic tradition of community outreach and serving the state/public church are a tes

timony both to our love of God and commitment to service in the name of the Lord. In institutional terms, we are a resource parish with a diverse, multigenerational membership. We offer many different worship opportunities and welcome all to worship with us. Our ministries for children and youth are especially strong, as is our music program which is grounded in Anglican Cathedral tradition. Through strong lay leadership and active laity, we support a large number of church programs and operate and contribute to community programs. We have a clear vision of the future, which involves a wide variety of ministries and missions to serve all our spiritual and pastoral needs as well as to continue to reach out in love to the greater Columbia community and to the world.

Announcing the Jubilee Grant fund! 🎉

As part of our jubilee celebration in 2027, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is launching the Jubilee grant fund, an expression of gratitude and a commitment to restoration, dignity, and community flourishing. We are seeking non-profit partners whose work reflects this vision. Over the next 10 years, we will invest $1 million in one or more non-profit organizations serving historically marginalized neighbors and pursuing transformative change in our community.

Organizations that are advancing new or expanded efforts in homelessness, justice, education, or health are invited to submit a letter of intent by July 15. Learn more at trinitysc.org/jubilee.

Yesterday, we were blessed and grateful to welcome 20 adults to the Trinity community through baptism, confirmation, reception and reaffirmation. Bishop Daniel Richards was with us to celebrate these sacraments. We look forward to all the ways these new members will enrich the life of our parish and participate in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our community and our world.

We have much to celebrate this Sunday, May 31!
This is Trinity Sunday, one of the seven principal feasts of the church year. It is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost and honors “the one and equal glory” of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Right Rev. Daniel Richards, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina, will be with us to celebrate adult baptism, confirmation and reception.
We'll celebrate Trinity Sunday and these sacraments with a parish picnic on the Cathedral Lawn after the 10:00 a.m. service. Please bring a picnic blanket for your family to sit on and a dessert to share. We can't wait to see you!

This Sunday we begin our summer worship schedule.
It is also Pentecost, celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter. It commemorates the events of Acts 2, shortly after the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. The early Christians were "filled with the Holy Spirit" and began speaking in tongues. This is considered to be the origin of the church's worldwide preaching and the sending out of the church into the world.
The Day of Pentecost is one of the seven principal feasts of the church year in the Episcopal Church and is celebrated with Holy Baptism.
We hope you'll join us to celebrate this Sunday!

Because our block will be bustling with extra visitors, and parking will be at a premium, we will suspend our usual weekday Morning Prayer service tomorrow. We will resume on Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday.

Our staff was at an overnight retreat at on Monday and Tuesday. It was a time to reflect on the holy work of the past year, to discern where God is calling us in the year ahead, and to engage in lots of idea sharing and vision setting. There was also plenty of time for good food, great conversation, lots of laughter and plenty of fun. We thank God everyday for these amazing coworkers!
