Our Tuesday staff meetings are always productive. From discussing visitation to planning retreats to discussing liturgy or ordinations, our project lists are never empty. And sometimes, on special days, we study scripture together as a family.

This week we talked about Matthew 12, being devout vs. devotion, the blindness of the Pharisees, and tension held between discernment and security.

One week ago today we were gathered as a diocese at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral to pray, fellowship, but most importantly, to witness new deacons being ordained. Moments ranged from light and silly to deeply reverent and holy. Please enjoy these pictures and check out the entire album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjCVTmk

It was a big moment for the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Spartanburg on Wednesday, May 20 as the bishop installed The Rev. Richard Proctor, OA as Rector. This joyful service included music from bell ringers, singers, and the presentation of the symbols of ministry plus Holy Eucharist and a party afterward. As bonus, we got treated to Fr. Proctor on the drums with a jazz trio!
