It’s time to come Back to Shul! Join your CJC family tonight for a special Back to Shul Shabbat as we reconnect, celebrate, and welcome the start of a new season together. We’ll gather for Shabbat services at 7:00 PM, with plenty of time to catch up with friends and enjoy the warmth of our community. And a special reminder to everyone celebrating a September birthday: come join us and receive your birthday blessing! Whether you’ve been with us all summer or it’s been a while since we’ve seen you, we’d love to welcome you back.

Please bring your friends and extended family —
even the furry ones!

Tashlich means “casting off” and involves symbolically
casting off the sins of the previous year by tossing
pebbles into a body of water. Just as the water carries away the tossed item, so too are the sins symbolically carried away.

In this way the participant hopes to start the New Year with a clean slate.

After a two-year hiatus from working in the Jewish community, Rabbi Gludt is returning to work at Columbia Jewish Congregation.

Join us for a special educational evening about Tahara.

On August 31 from 7–9 PM, join David Zinner and Merry Knight for a meaningful training exploring the sacred Jewish practice of tahara—the traditional ritual preparation of the deceased.

Together, we’ll learn about the Chevrah Kadisha, the spiritual significance of this profound act of chesed shel emet (true loving kindness), and the practical steps involved in serving our community with dignity and compassion.

This opportunity is open to all community members, with a special invitation to younger generations to help carry this important tradition forward.

No experience is necessary—just an open heart and a desire to serve. 💚
