Be the helping hand behind the scenes that helps our community stay connected.

Friday Night Shabbat Technology Assistant

CJC is seeking Technology and Set-Up Assistants to help operate our Zoom session and in-house technology during Shabbat Evening services. No advanced technical experience is required—we will provide training. If you're comfortable using a computer, willing to learn, and enjoy being part of a synagogue community, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities include:
-- Setting up the service space for services
-- Starting and monitoring our Zoom session
-- Screensharing, advancing slides and presentation materials
-- Assisting with audio and video setup as needed
-- Helping ensure a smooth worship experience for both in-person
and online participants

Time Commitment: Friday evenings during Shabbat services, with scheduling flexibility.

This is a wonderful opportunity for adults, college students, and responsible teens looking to serve the congregation while learning valuable technology skills.

The CJC Jim Walsh Memorial Rebuilding Together effort successfully completed another impactful workday on May 17, helping an older resident remain safely and comfortably in their home through a series of important repairs and improvements. The homeowner expressed great appreciation for the work completed.

Projects completed during the day included repainting an exterior door frame, repairing a storm door, installing three new exterior locks, cleaning filters, checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, clearing debris from gutters, adding gutter extenders to downspouts, installing visible house numbers, and trimming overgrown bushes.

This year’s project was led by Bob Leker. Volunteers who participated included Adele Abramowitz, Serge Elfassi, Alex Ross, William David Wilson, Chris Hefty, Ed Germroth, Joe Bergstein, and David Trossman. Serge also provided valuable assistance during the planning process as Bob led his first Rebuilding Together project. Great job, Bob! And a huge thank you to all the volunteers.

Rebuilding Together of Howard County worked on 20 homes this spring with the support of more than 200 volunteers dedicated to helping neighbors in need.

Please keep your eyes open for more chances to Rebuild Together, including opportunities for teens!
