History of the Church

In the last 125 years of 'Immanuel' Silver Creek Lutheran history many families have joined and visited us in worship; sadly s

ome have moved on. Many families who are descendants of the members who signed the charter in 1897 are still very active in our small, simple and richly blessed country church. Nothing uplifts and refreshes the spirit more than a weekly reflection of God's love and hope, then stepping out of our church doors and viewing His beauty in the valley, creek and woods that surround us atop our hill. Men from many families have served as Elders, Trustees, board members, have worked on exterior and interior, provided fuel, custodial and grounds keeping duties. In April 1994 the church officially changed its name from Immanuel Silver Creek Lutheran Church to Silver Creek Lutheran Church. Records were officially filed exactly 100 years from the original signing of the charter. The women have been the foundation of our church from the 1890's. In 1894, possibly earlier women have opened their homes to hold the first church services. As many women of today can appreciate welcoming 10-20 or more guests into our home is no simple feat. They have always held monthly meetings taking turns hosting in their homes or the church basement. LWML accepted Silver Creek in to the North Wisconsin District in May, 1949. Later changing in August, 1954 to Immanuel Silver Creek Concordia Club and then Silver Creek Lutheran Concordia Club in 1998. Members of the Concordia Club, which are all women of the church, have performed numerous duties including: serving weddings, funerals, auctions, lenten services, making packages for World Relief, tending elderly and shut-ins, altar clothes, communal duties and altar flowers. Successful fundraisers for us have been: pancake suppers and breakfasts, soup and sandwich dinners, spaghetti dinners all with crafts and baked goods.

Our member, Eunice Przybylski, has gone home into to the loving arms of Jesus. She was a wonderful woman, wife, mother, sister and friend.
Eunice Arlene Przybylski, age 92, found peace after a courageous battle with Dementia on the
morning of April 14, 2026. She passed away at Monroe Manor Assisted Living in Barron, WI.
Eunice was born February 27, 1934 to August and Ida Dietrich in Almena, WI. She lived a
majority of her life in northern Minnesota where she graduated from Ely Memorial High School in
1952. She later married her devoted husband, Leonard Przybylski on October 9, 1954 before
moving to Babbitt, MN to raise two children.
She was a devoted and active Christian, centering God in her life. Those who knew Eunice say
she was one of a kind and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She worked as a
licensed practical nurse and after retiring, she picked up her nursing career again at an
assistant living home in Babbitt simply because she loved to care for others.
Eunice is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, parents, three sisters and a brother.
She is survived by her son Vance Przybylski, daughter Susan Colvin; grandchildren Brent
Ackerman, Chandra Colvin, Isabelle Przybylski and great-granddaughter Brooke Ackerman;
sisters; Laura May and Judy Hendrickson; sister-in-laws Donna Przybylski and Susie Przybylski;
extended family, the Camerons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held on May 2, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Ely, MN. Visitation will begin at
10 a.m.
