Dr. Paul Maier was son of Dr. Walter Maier, original founder and speaker for The Lutheran Hour. He was professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, a world-renowned Christian apologist (defender) of the faith and at one time vice president of our Lutheran Chuch-MO Synod. Check out the link below which should have some excerpts of Dr. Maier speaking. He was author of his father's bio, "A Man Spoke, A World Listened: The Story of Walter A. Before you start, please know that there's a funnyt video at the end. There's apparently been some confusion over the years about Valentine's Day, and few know much about the man for whom the day is named. He was a Catholic priest, serious about the Christian faith in God and His love for all people through Christ who sacrificed Himself to save us. Once saved, God calls us to a life of love and service to others. St. Valentine lived and taught that faith and was martyred for it. He was beheaded. So St. Valentine was about more than cards and hearts and candy. Faith is serious business and not to be lived luke warm (Revelation 3:16) and certainly not for the faint of heart. Of course, cards and hearts and candy are fine as far as they go. I can still remember elementary school days when we exchanged cards in class. Pleasant memories. And yet, apparently some even have confusion about the modern celebration of Valentine's Day as in this 2 minute video of the Smother's Brothers Comedy Hour! Hope there was not so much confusion in your Valentine's Day on this February 14, 2025. And please don't forget to take own your Valentine's Tree! Enjoy the video.
