We welcome all into the love of God in Christ through worship, music, education, community, and service to others

Welcome to The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, a community of “inquiring and discerning hearts”. You will find us to be a caring community, with supportive and listening leaders who are here to help you in your journey, and to hold you when you most need it. Worship and preaching wi

ll help deepen and center your faith as you wrestle with the difficult questions about the Church’s role in society and our communities, and our purpose in God’s universe. We are an Anglican church, part of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington under the umbrella of the global Anglican Communion under its historic head at Canterbury. Mariann Edgar Budde is our Bishop, and the 1979 Book of Common Prayer is the basis of our worship that dates back to Thomas Cranmer’s 1549 edition, the first prayer book in the vernacular. Our spirituality is open to the mystery of all that is Holy, and leads us to seek out God in the world. We celebrate and honor the beauty of God’s creation. We uphold the dignity of every human being, and we project a firm sense of justice for the weakest in our midst. Our worship celebrates Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. It brings together human talents and gifts to uplift our communal expression of joy. It is a reflection of the standards we uphold and feeds us to go out into the world to live our Baptismal Covenant:

to proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ; to seek and serve Christ in all persons; to love our neighbors as ourselves; to strive for justice and peace among all people; and to respect the dignity of every human being. We work to do all of this with God’s help, through our community of faith that we build together in the name of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Love your neighbor:
Abolish Medical Debt in Montgomery County, MD

Did you know that millions of dollars of unaffordable medical debt are owed by our neighbors here in Montgomery County, Maryland?

Redeemer is working with the nonprofit Undue Medical Debt on a community campaign to unburden our neighbors of this debt. Funds we raise will be used by Undue Medical Debt to buy debt in large, bundled portfolios of unpaid medical bills, pinpointing the debt of those most in need in Montgomery County. Those debts are then erased.

Our goal is to raise $15,000, which will erase more than $1.82 million in unpayable medical bills, benefiting about 1,600 individuals.

Here’s how you can help:

· Donate: https://unduemedicaldebt.org/campaign/love-your-neighbor/ or send a check to The Church of the Redeemer, 6201 Dunrobbin Drive, Bethesda, MD 20816 (make check out to “Undue Medical Debt”).

· Learn more about how Undue Medical Debt also collaborates with like-minded partners on upstream changes to the healthcare financing system, to reduce the accumulation of new debt: https://unduemedicaldebt.org/our-outcomes/

Love your neighbor! Abolish Medical Debt in Montgomery County, MD for pennies on the dollar

Did you know that millions of dollars of unaffordable medical debt are owed by your neighbors here in Montgomery County, Maryland?

Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:34)

In 2026, Jesus might add, “I was burdened by medical bills I could not pay, and you relieved me.”

Redeemer is working with the nonprofit Undue Medical Debt on a campaign to unburden our neighbors of more than $1.5 million in medical debt. We can do this by raising as little as $15,000, which is then used to purchase and forgive the debt.
