With deep sadness, we share the passing of Andrew Marcus Golemon-Mercer, beloved son of Rev. Larry Golemon and Joyce Mercer, both cherished members of the National Capital Presbytery family.

Larry and Joyce invite the National Capital Presbytery community to join them for a memorial service celebrating Andrew’s life on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 AM at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.

We hold Larry, Joyce, their family, and all who loved Andrew in our prayers during this season of profound grief and remembrance. May God’s love surround them with comfort, peace, and strength in the days ahead.

Celebrate the life of Andrew Golemon-Mercer, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel.

God, in your mercy!

God, in your mercy!

We grieve the violence that has taken place at the Islamic Center of San Diego. In moments like these, our hearts turn first toward our Muslim neighbors, who deserve to gather in prayer, peace, and safety without fear. An act of violence against a faith community wounds not only those directly impacted, but the wider fabric of our shared life together.

As followers of Christ, we affirm the sacred dignity of every person and reject hatred, fear, and violence in all its forms. We are reminded that our call is not simply to condemn violence, but to embody love of neighbor in tangible ways: through presence, solidarity, prayer, and the protection of one another’s humanity.

We hold the affected community, its leaders, families, and all those carrying fear or grief in our prayers. We also give thanks for first responders, caregivers, and community leaders working to bring safety, healing, and peace.

In a time when division and suspicion can so easily take root, may we instead choose the harder and holier path of compassion, relationship, and mutual care. Our Muslim neighbors are not strangers to us. They are part of the shared community we are called to love and protect together.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

May God bring comfort to the grieving, protection to the vulnerable, and courage to all who seek peace.

The presbytery is growing and the table keeps getting wider.

Tomorrow we’ll welcome some of our newest minister members into the life and work of National Capital Presbytery — leaders bringing gifts of compassion, curiosity, wisdom, music, justice, global experience, and deep care for people.

From Australia to Belize to honest conversations about faith, these stories remind us that the Church is still becoming. Still evolving. Still being called into new possibilities.

Join us in welcoming Rev. Dr. Devadosan Sugirtharaj (Deva), Rev. Chris Lugo, and Rev. Jennifer Butler. We are grateful for the ways their ministries will shape our shared work together.

Installed with prayer, surrounded by community, and grounded in love.

Today at Little Falls Presbyterian Church was a reminder that ministry is never done alone. Grateful for every hand, every voice, every blessing spoken over this new season. ❤️🔥

Honored to celebrate and commission the National Capital Presbytery’s commissioners to the 227th General Assembly.

As they prepare to represent our presbytery in Milwaukee, we pray they carry wisdom, courage, compassion, and a deep commitment to the work of the Spirit in the church and the world.

Grateful for each person willing to serve, discern, listen, and lead in this moment. May this assembly be shaped not only by policy and procedure, but by justice, hope, and holy imagination . 💛

We will commission them next Tuesday at the presbytery meeting.
