CALL TO WORSHIP

WHY DO WE WORSHIP GOD?
BECAUSE WE BELIEVE PETER’S WORDS

…”Whoever would love life and see good days:
must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.

WHY DO WE WORSHIP? Because WE KNOW

…the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

WHY DO WE WORSHIP?
WE KNOW WHERE JESUS IS NOW

… by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand —with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
1 Peter 3:10-12,21-22

CALL TO WORSHIP

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Mark chapter 8:
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life[b] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

This scripture came up in my daily Bible reading recently and it’s been on my heart since then. But, you might be wondering what this has to do with worship. Everything.

Paul urges us in Romans chapter 12: 12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Both of these scriptures describe worship, complete worship, 24/7 worship, living sacrifice worship, and unashamed worship. I needed this reminder from God’s word and I hope that you do too.

Let’s pray together.
Father in heaven, thank you for reminding us of how to worship, everyday. Lord, this sort of sacrifice is not easy, and we confess that we often fall short of it. Change our hearts Lord, change our lives because we are not ashamed to follow you. Father God, we want to be holy and pleasing to you, we want to live the lives you have planned for us. We want to share your love with the people we know. Please guide us by your word and by your Spirit. Father, we worship you now. May you be glorified, may you be pleased. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners —of whom I am the worst.

But for that very reason;
(because I was the worst of all sinners)

I was shown mercy

so that in me, the worst of sinners,

Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Who does Apostle Paul say Jesus is?

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
-1 Timothy 1:17

Who does Paul say he is?

"Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief."
-1 Timothy 1:13 -

What or Who changed him?

Paul met the Risen Jesus on the road to Damascus.

Pray with me in the words of The Apostle Paul

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
-1 Timothy 1:17

"About noon, King Agrippa, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’
“Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’
“ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’"
-Acts 26:13-18

CALL TO WORSHIP

1 Peter 15: "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..."

I want to be better at sharing the hope I have, sharing my faith in Jesus Christ. Is it on your heart to reach out to friends, loved ones, family, neighbors? But how? And maybe it stresses you out. I believe it is out of the comfort zone for most.

In Philippians 2:5 we are called to have the mind of Christ, to think like Jesus. That is why I want to read this scripture from Matthew chapter 9:35-38:
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Yes, the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few; it’s good to notice that. But notice the mind and heart of Jesus: When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
I believe if we want to be better at sharing our faith, this is where we start. We see the people around us with compassion in our hearts because they are truly harassed and helpless, they don’t have the great shepherd, and they desperately need him. It may seem like they have it all together and they don’t need a thing, but that is not the way Jesus sees them. We also need to look at our friends and loved ones with compassion.

Let’s pray. Father in Heaven, we want to have the mindset of Jesus. Father, help us prepare to share our hope by having a heart of compassion. Father, we need to show mercy and love to those around us; we want to do that and we need your help. Father, we worship you now, you are compassionate and loving and merciful and we are so thankful to be in relationship with you because of our Savior Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP

We celebrated Valentine's Day last weekend - A day set aside to remember those we love.

We love the Lord and he really really loves us.

Perhaps one of the best-known verses in the Bible:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

This is true love.

CALL TO WORSHIP

"Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death

to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation"
— Colossians 1:21-22

I don't care if you were saved yesterday or 100 years ago.

Right now,
Today,
In His Presence,
This very hour,
WE ARE
Holy in God sight,
Without Blemish,
Free from Accusation.

And that's why I invite you to come and Worship
The Father
The Son
The Holy Spirit
With us.
