The Praying Elders

The Praying Elders We are a Network of praying Christian Elders. Elder in the sense of a Christian leader and elder in the sense of wise in years i.e., elderly.

I am a retired Anglican Priest and I am nearing my 70th year. I’ve noticed that we “older folk” are somewhat invisible.

Now that’s not all that bad. I have been in the public eye for most of my life and being a little invisible isn’t all that bad.

What I love about being retired is that I really do have time to think, read and pray. It’s the “prayer” thing that I really want to talk to you about.

If there is one thing that I have focused in my life it has been “drawing closer to God.” It’s God’s Presence that blesses me so much.

I have been praying for a long long time and I would love to talk with others who have made prayer a big part of their lives or those who would really like to love praying. Yes you heard me right - I would love to talk with people who would love to love praying.

I love to pray and I think it’s because I not only sense God’s Presence and am profoundly blessed by it but also I “see” what I am praying for.

I use a form of prayer known as “Imaginative Prayer.” Don’t get thrown by the word “imaginative.” I don’t mean “imaginary” or “fantasy” but rather I use “images” to see what I am praying for and my prayer life becomes full blooded and so alive!

I’d love to talk more about this with y’all if you would wish. Just email me at [email protected].

If you are a Christian and a person of mature years then you are a Christian Elder and if you would like to join a network of elder prayers who will also stir your joy in prayer then please consider this Network.

If you wish, we will teach you an ancient form of prayer that will renew your joy in prayer.
The prayer form is called "Imaginative Prayer" and it reminds us that when we "see" who or what we are praying for our praying becomes energized and and our faith is magnified.

The great prayers of old all sought to "see" what they were praying for. They engaged their sanctified imaginations to see what they were praying for. The exercise of your sanctified imagination is not an exercise in imaginary fantasy but rather an exercise in exercising your greatest faculty for prayer. You see "seeing is believing."

We are in the process of uploading a 5 Session online training series to teach you all about it. When you have completed this training you will be invited to join the Network. Your only commitment in the Network is to pray daily and you can always simply withdraw from the network if you wish by simply saying so.

You see, the Network is nothing more than a group of elders from all over the world just like you and me who want to pray for others. You can also join us on a weekly online Zoom meeting (soon to be announced) to pray together and to share lessons you have learned about praying and how God is blessing you and others through prayer.

In this weekly meeting you will be encouraged, inspired, taught and loved by people just like you who love our Lord and love to commune with Him in prayer.

Truly people who pray are a very very special breed of people. We are lovers of God and of people. This is the community of prayer and love that you are being encouraged to join.

Elders learning how to prayer using the “Imaginative Prayer” way to pray and then joining a growing network of other Christian Elders committed to praying for the needs of their respective communities both local, state and country.
