❤️ A Heart for Peace ❤️

What kind of heart does our world need right now?

A heart shaped by compassion instead of indifference.
By humility instead of division.
By courage instead of fear.
By peace instead of outrage.

On June 11, Catholic bishops across the United States will participate in a national consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the 250th anniversary commemoration of our nation.

Whether or not you are Catholic—or even religious—we believe the deeper invitation speaks to something profoundly human: the kind of heart we bring into the world and into one another's lives.

As part of this national effort, individuals and communities are being invited to participate in 250 Hours of Adoration and 250 Works of Mercy, a beautiful reminder that contemplation and compassionate action belong together.

What might one act of mercy look like today?

A visit.
A phone call.
A word of encouragement.
A helping hand.
A choice to forgive.

Mercy is love put into action.

“We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.” — Luciano De Crescenzo

What a beautiful reminder as we begin this month’s reflection on One Body.

In a culture that often celebrates independence above all else, we can forget how deeply interconnected our lives truly are. None of us is meant to carry life alone. Our healing, our peace, our resilience, and even our joy are often found in relationship—in community, compassion, and the willingness to recognize ourselves in one another.

For people of faith, this echoes the sacred truth that we belong to one body. But even beyond religious language, it speaks to something deeply human: we need one another.

💭 Where are you being invited to lean into connection rather than separation?

Today, many Christians around the world celebrate **Corpus Christi**—the Feast of the Body of Christ.

For Catholics, this is a deeply meaningful day that honors the mystery of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist: ordinary bread and wine becoming a sacred encounter with divine love, nourishment, and communion. At its heart, Corpus Christi reminds us that faith is not only something we think about, but something we receive, embody, and carry into the world.

But even beyond Christian tradition, there is something universally human in this invitation.

What does it mean to be nourished—not just physically, but spiritually? What sustains us when life feels heavy? What does true communion look like in a world that can feel fragmented and divided?

At the Peace & Spirituality Center, we hold space for these deeper questions with people of many backgrounds and traditions. While today’s feast is rooted in Catholic faith, its themes of presence, gratitude, nourishment, and belonging speak far beyond any single tradition.

May today be a gentle invitation to reflect on what feeds your spirit—and how we might become nourishment, peace, and compassionate presence for one another.

From the fire of Pentecost to the silence of remembrance, May reminds us that the Spirit empowers us for love, justice, and peace. To remember those who have given their lives, and to stand with those who hunger, is to say: love is stronger than death.

Founded by The Hunger Project, World Hunger Day shines a light on the reality that millions of people still struggle for daily bread. It is a call to action for justice, dignity, and shared responsibility.

At the Peace & Spirituality Center, we know that peace is impossible when bodies are hungry. To end hunger is to honor the sacred dignity of every person and to live out our call to justice.

🌿 May we be bread for one another in a world that longs for fullness.

Memorial Day, first known as Decoration Day after the Civil War, honors the lives of those who have died in military service. It is a day of remembrance, grief, and gratitude.

At the Peace & Spirituality Center, we pause to honor their memory and recommit ourselves to peace. In a time that can feel heavy and divided, this day calls us back to what matters most—to the dignity of every life, and to the shared hope for a more compassionate world.

To remember the cost of war is to renew our work for a world where justice and compassion help prevent such sacrifice.

🌿 May our remembrance deepen our longing for peace—and our commitment to one another.
