This is the Official page of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), a Roman Catholic Religious Order founded by St Dominic de Guzman and approved by Pope Honorius III on 22 Dec. 1216. The Order is made up of; Friars (priests and co-operator brothers), Contemplative Nuns, Apostolic Sisters under different congregations, members of the Secular Institutes, Priestly Fraternities and the Laity (

both adults and youths). The Order is headed by the Master of the Order who is elected by the General Chapter of the Order every 9 years and who resides at the General Curia (Headquarters) of the Order at Santa Sabina, Rome. Founded to preach the Gospel and to combat heresy, the Order lives by four main principles or pillars – Ministry, Community, Study and Prayer. The members of the Order live together in community, sharing a common life. In community, they pray, contemplate and study together. These enable them to undertake the ministry of preaching the gospel.

As Ukraine marked 35 years of independence, fr. Jarosław Krawiec, OP, described repeated attacks on Kyiv and the war’s effects on the country’s publishing industry, families, and children. Writing from the Dominican priory in the capital, he asks for continued prayer for peace while recalling the people who bear the daily consequences of the conflict.

Los priores provinciales, viceprovinciales y vicarios provinciales, acompañados por los regentes de estudios, se reunieron en el Convento Santo Domingo de Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, para celebrar la Asamblea Intermedia de CIDALC. El encuentro tuvo como objetivos fortalecer los centros institucionales de estudios y continuar fomentando la colaboración en la formación y en los proyectos pastorales.

Durante la semana, los participantes visitaron el Santuario de la Virgen de Cotoca, situado a 24 kilómetros de Santa Cruz y confiado por la Iglesia local al cuidado pastoral de la Viceprovincia de Bolivia.

La Asamblea identificó cinco ejes comunes para preparar la participación de la región en el próximo Capítulo General: planificación estratégica; gobierno y liderazgo; promoción vocacional y formación; misión, presencia digital y diálogo cultural; y colaboración interprovincial y sostenibilidad financiera.

También se reafirmó el apoyo a la Escuela Dominicana de Formadores y se avanzó en una propuesta de colaboración rotativa entre las provincias para sostener durante cinco años un puesto de misión en la Amazonía.

Dominican friars from across Africa recently gathered in Ibadan, Nigeria, for the 16th General Assembly of the IAOP and a joyful celebration of 50 years of continental collaboration. Returning to the city where this shared mission began in 1976, the friars gave thanks for the past, reflected together on the future of Dominican life and preaching in Africa, and elected a new coordination team to serve for the next three years.

Thanks to Friends of the Holy Land, we will hosting '50 Face of the Holy Land' here at St Dominic's - The Rosary Shrine from 4-13th September in the church.

Through 50 compelling portraits by photographer Marcin Mazur, the exhibition brings us face to face with people who call the Holy Land home. Israeli and Palestinian; Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Samaritan and Druze, each face carries its own story of faith, resilience, joy and suffering.

At a time when the Holy Land is so often seen only through images of conflict, the exhibition offers an opportunity to pause, encounter the humanity behind the headlines and remember in prayer all those whose lives continue to be affected.
