“Going close to Him” also means caring for God’s creation. This Season of Creation, we commit to our common home, cherishing the earth, walking with the vulnerable, turning to the Lord to ask for his presence in all our actions.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed – so many crises, so many natural disasters, so many people in need of help. Mary Ward must certainly have known this feeling too. She left us some good advice: ‘Do your best, and God will help.’ Mary Ward was firmly convinced of this. And we, too, can rely on it today: God is by our side and will help us.
We are not alone. Alongside us, many others are striving to do God’s will, to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God, as we read in the prophet Micah.

Today, 1 September 2026, marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, a time when the global Church invites us to reflect deeply on our relationship with God’s creation and to recommit ourselves to caring for our common home. This year’s theme – Living Water – speaks directly to one of the most urgent crises of our time: the struggle for access to clean water and the injustice that disproportionately affects women and girls worldwide.

Spiritual life can be exciting and glamorous on occasions. But spiritual life is only really fruitful if we integrate it in our day to day living. Saint Ignatius points out this enormous value when he insists on concrete virtue, patience, humility, solidarity, service - the unglamorous backbone of spiritual life is what moves us forward.

Sometimes we wonder why choosing the path of love and truth seems to make life harder rather than easier. In those moments, today's readings remind us that we are not alone. On every 30th of a month, we pray for the union of minds and hearts that was so precious to Saint Ignatiuis of Loyola. We pray that as we journey together in our ‘new territory’ of the Congregation of Jesus, we may truly live our ‘oneness’ with joy and gratitude.

The 30 August is the International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Enforced Disappearances. On this day, we honor and pray for victims of enforced disappearances, express solidarity with families living in uncertainty, and advocate accountability, truth, and reparations.
