St Annes Parish Church

St Annes Parish Church St Annes is an inclusive church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.

The parish of St Anne, Heyhouses on Sea, was formed out of the ancient parish of St Cuthbert, Lytham in the 1870s. The daughter church of St Anne was given that part of the St Cuthbert's parish north and west of Smithy Lane and North Houses Lane. In those days the parish comprised farms, and cottages for farm workers and fishermen, but soon a small seaside resort sprang up and took for its name th

e name of the church and became St Annes-on-Sea. With the growth in the size and population of St Annes the parish of St Anne was split through the establishment of the daughter churches of St Thomas and St Margaret, which in turn became parishes in their own right. Our parish of St Anne, however, remains as the ancient mother church of the town of St Annes-on-Sea and in the last few years the ancient but rather confusing title of the parish has been changed by Order in Privy Council from St Anne, Heyhouses on Sea, to St Anne, Heyhouses, St Annes-on-Sea.

THANKS TO YOU ALL!

Join us on Sunday at 10.30am to celebrate Pentecost (Whit Sunday), birthday of the Church and the coming of the Holy Spirit, illustrated in our lovely stained glass window by tongues of fire settling on the heads of the apostles. All welcome.

Bell Sunday is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role church bells and bellringers play in communities. It is held on the Sunday closest to St. Dunstan's Day (the patron saint of bellringers), so this year it will be celebrated tomorrow. To mark Bell Sunday we will be attempting a quarter peal tomorrow afternoon.

If you have ever thought about becoming a bellringer, why not give it a go? Please get in touch to find out more.

Hail the day that sees Him rise! Join us this evening at 7.30pm to celebrate the Ascension of Our Lord. All welcome.
