We will be ringing for the wedding of Simone and Jamie at lunchtime today. It is always an honour and a delight when we are asked to ring for a wedding. The band send their very best wishes to the happy couple.

Historically, the bells were rung to announce the marriage to the community (in the days before social media!), ward off evil spirits, and bring abundance and protection to the newlyweds. Ringing the church bells also signifies a joyous celebration, good fortune, and new beginnings.

A few weeks ago we were contacted by a member of the NHS Bereavement Team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to as if some of the team could come for a visit. We were delighted to accommodate this request and this evening Ian, Lucy and Laura came to visit us before our usual practice. It was wonderful to welcome them to the tower and they brought some delicious bell-themed biscuits with them, so they can definitely come again! Thank you for visiting, we hope you enjoyed it. ❤️🔔

Bell Sunday is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role church bells and bellringers play in communities. It is held on the Sunday closest to St. Dunstan's Day (the patron saint of bellringers), so this year it will be celebrated tomorrow. To mark Bell Sunday we will be attempting a quarter peal tomorrow afternoon.

If you have ever thought about becoming a bellringer, why not give it a go? Please get in touch to find out more.
