Located in the heart of Sydney's C*D, we love to introduce people to Jesus (just like Andrew the Apostle). Come and visit on Sundays or during the week.

We do this through ministries of word, prayer, music, and hospitality. We welcome all people, from all walks of life and circumstances, and we would love to have you. You are welcome, whether you come as a tourist, a visitor to one of our Sunday meetings, a person seeking spiritual help, or a person seeking a spiritual home. The Cathedral's aim is:

To glorify God by proclaiming our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ in prayerful dependence on the Holy Spirit, so that everyone will hear his call to repent, trust and serve Christ in love, and be established in the fellowship of his disciples while they await his return. We are a diverse church, and we welcome people from all walks of life and backgrounds in our many congregations. There are many ways to be involved in our church ministries, and we hope you will come and join us. We are located at the heart of Sydney C*D, at the corner of George and Bathurst Streets. Take the train or light rail to Town Hall Station. We are right on George Street in Sydney Square next to Town Hall and up the elevator or the stairs from the Arcade beneath. Parking is available in the Wilson's Car Park, behind the Cathedral at 474 Kent Street. (02) 9265 1698. We are part of the Sydney Open this Sunday 1 November, 12:30-4:00pm.

Come see the oldest cathedral in Australia and one of the finest 'Gothic Revival' church buildings in NSW!

Tickets are essential for access to the Chapter House (and to access all other historic and special buildings open in Sydney) on the day. However ordinary tourists can still visit the Cathedral proper to look around or to pause and pray as usual on Sunday afternoon.

This coming Sunday is 'Reformation Sunday'. One of the ways we are celebrating the great truths of the Reformation is by using Bach's Cantata no. 69: 'Praise the Lord, O my Spirit', as part of our 10.30am Service.
Our preacher is The Rev. Dr Mark Thompson, Principal of Moore College and an expert on the Reformation.
Do join the Cathedral congregation, Choir, soloists and Orchestra as we celebrate!

Prayers for today...

Following the example of Holy Trinity Cathedral Wangaratta, who are holding a vigil for their critically injured local federal MP today, Sydney Cathedral staff and visitors paused at 1pm to pray for peace and for Helen Haines' recovery.

A Prayer for Year 12 Students
God of all wisdom, we pray for those currently sitting for final school exams. Enable them to prepare with discipline, to be calm under pressure, and to give a good account of what they have learned. Then, with decisions to make about life-directions, enable them to trust in you with all their heart, not just to lean on their own understanding. Help them to seek first your kingdom, and to realise their ultimate significance is found in Christ, not in the marks they achieve; in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the HSC exams, the final stretch of a year filled with hard work, dedication and growth.

As the Class of 2026 heads into this next chapter, we hope they approach each exam with confidence, stay calm under pressure and take pride in how far they’ve come.

We’re very proud of our former chorister, Head Chorister and Organ scholar! Congratulations Callum!

We are pleased to introduce our new Organ Scholar, Callum Knox.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Callum began his musical training at St Andrew’s Cathedral as a chorister and started playing the organ age 11. Coming to us via the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London, Callum also held the organ scholarships at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and then St Mary’s, Bourne Street.
Do say hello to Callum if you see him around.

Both Sean and Scott are musicians in the Australian Army Band, Sydney.

All are welcome at a special service of Choral Evensong this Thursday, 8 October, at 5:15pm, as we pray for the educational mission and Christian ministry of Anglican colleges in Sydney, including residential colleges such as St Paul's College, New College, and Robert Menzies College.

We thank God for those who support young men and women in their learning and formation according to the wisdom of Christ. With our Cathedral Choir in recess for the holidays, we're delighted to welcome the Choir of St Paul's College together with their Director of Music Dr Jack Stephens. Our visiting preacher is the Reverend Dr Rowan Kemp, who leads the staff team of the Sydney University Evangelical Union.
