“The Cross Is Not a Detour”

Dear Parishioners, Visitors and Friends,

Last week Peter was the rock on which Christ builds his Church. This week he is called Satan. The lectionary allows no cushion between the two: in the very same scene, the man just praised for his confession of faith immediately tries to talk Jesus out of the cross. Peter is not being wicked. He is doing something more familiar protecting someone he loves from pain, using perfectly reasonable human logic. Jesus' sharp reply tells us that human logic and the logic of God are not always the same thing...

Our retreat was a great success with 79 Adults and 34 Youth registering. The majority of youth attending were from our two Colleges (St Johns and Good Samaritan). With the help of the Stella Maris NET Team and the APRE’s from both Colleges we were able to effectively promote the retreat to our College students...
