mbership - great value to learn skills that can change your life! John the Baptist Anglican Church Hall at 176 Currie Street, Nambour from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The environment in a Toastmasters club is friendly and supportive. Everyone at a Toastmasters meeting feels welcome and valued - from complete beginners to advanced speakers. As a new member you will receive a manual with speeches to work through at your own pace, as well as the opportunity at each meeting to practice brief impromptu presentations, known as Table Topics or other minor roles such as word of the night, listening critic, timer, etc. There is no rush and no pressure. The Toastmasters program allows you to progress at your own pace. Constructive evaluation is central to the Toastmasters philosophy. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths as well as suggest improvements. Receiving - and giving - such feedback is a great learning experience. In Toastmasters, encouragement and improvement go hand-in-hand. http://4164.toastmastersclubs.org/

Tonights Speech-a-Thon was a fantastic meeting filled with courage, growth, and community. Six prepared speeches, six evaluations, and plenty of members stepping confidently outside their comfort zones — everything that makes Toastmasters so impactful.

We celebrated powerful contributions from Shane, Duncan, Abhi, Jasmine, Hazel, and Eric, each bringing something unique to the stage. We also recognised Hazel and Ashton, who recently represented our club at the Area Contest for International Speech and Humorous Speech — both placing 3rd in their competitions. A brilliant achievement!

A special shoutout to Abhi for delivering his first evaluation with confidence and clarity, and to Jasmine for giving her Icebreaker without notes — entertaining, engaging, and wonderfully brave. We’re thrilled to have you in our club, Jasmine.

And now… something special is just around the corner. 🎄🎉

🌸 Springing into a New Beginning! 🌸

Here’s a little snapshot of the joy, laughter, and inspiration from our November 6th meeting!

Our fabulous Toastmaster for the evening, Shirley, brought the theme “Spring – A New Beginning” to life with her warmth and creativity. She even filled the room with the beautiful scent of gardenias fresh from her own garden! 🌼

The night was full of energy and participation. Coral led a lively Table Topics session that kept everyone thinking on their feet — and laughing along the way! 🌱

We were also treated to a powerful Level 2 speech from Duncan, who reminded us that while we often look to space in wonder, sometimes the most important discoveries are found within. 🌟

✨ Award Highlights:
🏆 Evaluator of the Evening: Hugh
⚡ Bright Spark: Abhi
🎤 Table Topics Winner: Shane

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to such a vibrant, uplifting evening! 💬💖

If you’ve ever thought about improving your confidence, communication, or leadership skills — or you just love a good laugh — come and join us!

Better late than never… here’s a photo dump from our September and October meetings! 📸✨

It’s been a big couple of months at Nambour Toastmasters, full of laughs, learning, and plenty of personal growth. Some of the highlights included our Club Speech Contests, where we encouraged as many members as possible to jump in and give it a go. 💪🎤

A huge congratulations to our winners:
🏆 Hazel – Club Winner, International Speech Contest
🏆 Hazel (Again!)– Club Winner, Evaluation Contest
🏆 Wendy – Club Winner, Table Topics Contest
🏆 Ashton – Club Winner, Humorous Speech Contest

Each of them brought their unique style and courage to the stage — and reminded us what Toastmasters is all about: growth, confidence, and community. 👏✨

If you’ve ever thought about improving your speaking skills, building confidence, or meeting a great group of people, come join us! Guests are always welcome.

✨ Nambour Toastmasters Meeting Wrap-Up – 4th September ✨

Last Thursday’s meeting was a great reminder that growth often happens when things don’t go exactly to plan. With a few last-minute apologies, some members stepped into roles without preparation—an excellent real-world training ground for leadership and communication under pressure. 👏

We were delighted to welcome back our guest Kate for a second visit—thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you again soon!

🌱 Highlights of the Evening

Shirley warmed us up with a thought-provoking question on life lessons learned, sparking great insights from members and guests.

Abhi ran a lively Table Topics session on education themes, with all four participants rising to the challenge. Hazel was crowned Table Topics Winner for the night. 🎉

Sachiko impressed as Best Evaluator, and Abhi took home the Bright Spark Award.

We enjoyed two prepared speeches: Hazel’s “The Times They Are A-Changin'” took us on a nostalgic journey, and Wendy, our Club President, inspired us with vision casting for an exciting upcoming event (more details soon!).

📅 Next Meeting – 18th September
Our next meeting will host Club Contests—a perfect night to come along and spectate! Expect a showcase of speeches, evaluations, and impromptu speaking at their best.

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025!
If you have made a new year resolution which relates to any of the following then Toastmasters International could be the answer:
I would like to improve my confidence
I would like to improve my leadership skills
I would like to be able to speak confidently to an audience
I would like to apply for a promotion at work
I would like to be able to make a speech at a wedding
Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organisation that builds confidence and teaches public speaking skills through a worldwide network of clubs that meet online and in person. In a supportive community or corporate environment, members prepare and deliver speeches, respond to impromptu questions, and give and receive constructive feedback. It is through this regular practice that members are empowered to meet personal and professional communication goals. Founded in 1924, the organisation is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado with approximately 270,000 members in more than 14,000 clubs in 150 countries.
Even better news is that there is a club in Nambour with 20 members who are keen to welcome guests and support and encourage you to reach your goal - so why not come and visit us at our first meeting of 2025 on Thursday 16 January, 6.30pm for at 7.00pm start till 9.00pm. The venue is Nambour Anglican Church Hall, Currie Street, Nambour.
We have fun, laugh a lot and support each other to achieve our personal goals - so what is stopping you? Send me a message and then I will meet you at the venue on 16 January. See you then
Regards Wendy McLean
