🌟 Sunday School Coordinators Conference – Reflections 🌟

The Cape Coastal Apostle Area is pleased to announce the upcoming Sunday School Coordinators Conference, taking place on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at the beautiful Rustenberg Wine Estate, Stellenbosch.

With the theme “Reflections,” the conference will provide an opportunity for our Sunday School Coordinators to pause, reflect on their journey, share experiences, learn from one another, and look ahead with renewed purpose and enthusiasm. 🙏🏻✨

As we continue nurturing and guiding our children in their faith, may this gathering inspire meaningful conversations, strengthen our commitment to Sunday School ministry, and encourage us to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

Friendship Day Divine Service in Da Gama Park

The Saving Effect of the Sacraments

Message:
We receive salvation in Christ visibly by receiving the sacraments.

On Sunday, 6 September 2026, Da Gama Park Congregation gathered in a festive atmosphere for the much-anticipated Friendship Day Divine Service conducted by Apostle Bradley Bourne.

This was also a particularly special occasion, as it was Apostle Bourne's last visit to Fish Hoek district before the upcoming apostle area changes. Apostle Bourne called Rector Grant Herrmann to serve.

The Bible text for the Divine Service was taken from 1 John 5:8 (NKJV):

“And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.”

Apostle Bourne emphasized that God Himself confirms that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer and He does so in various ways (Spirit, water and blood).

He elaborated further on the saving effect of each of the sacraments: Holy Baptism, Holy Sealing and Holy Communion. Through the sacraments, God’s saving activity is made visible in the lives of believers.

Through Holy Baptism, we receive new life in the Lord and our original sin is washed away.

Through Holy Sealing, we receive our childhood in God, whereby we become firstlings in Christ. In other words, we are offered the opportunity to partake of the first resurrection of Christ.

Through Holy Communion, we receive life-giving strength to become more like Jesus.

Receiving the sacraments must be based on the faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent to save mankind from sin.

The congregation was encouraged to follow Christ’s example and to bear witness to the salvation found in Him through their deeds and by telling others about Jesus Christ.

The choir concluded the Divine Service with Hymn 316, “We Praise Thee, O Lord.”

Following the service, the congregation enjoyed a lovely time of fellowship with Apostle Bourne, bringing a special Friendship Day to a warm and memorable conclusion.

On Saturday, 5 September 2026, members of the Sun Valley and Da Gama Park congregations came together for a wonderful Friendship Walk in preparation for the Friendship Day Divine Service taking place tomorrow.

Our adventure began with a train ride from Kalk Bay to Muizenberg, followed by a scenic walk back to Kalk Bay. We then gathered in the park to relax, share a picnic and enjoy precious time together in fellowship.

Although the windy weather and work commitments meant that some were unfortunately unable to join us, those who could make it enjoyed a truly lovely time of fellowship together. We are already looking forward to our next walking adventure — which may possibly take us up Elsie’s Peak!

We now look forward with great anticipation to tomorrow's Friendship Day Divine Service, where we will be served by Apostle Bradley Bourne in Da Gama Park.

FIRE & NICE 2026

On Friday, 28 August 2026, Da Gama Park Congregation hosted our annual winter fellowship evening: “Fire & Nice.” We were thankful for the beautiful weather, which allowed everyone to enjoy a lovely evening of fellowship.

The fire was burning outside, where many gathered to keep warm and catch up.

Inside, everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of food, which included vetkoek, a variety of hearty soups and sago pudding. There was also lively music and games.

It was a wonderful evening filled with good food, laughter and fellowship, and we were grateful for the wonderful turnout and support.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, helped with the arrangements and supported the event. 🙏
