New Estate Congregation- Annual Potjiekos Competition ,Saturday 05 September.

The Secret Ingredient was Fellowship (and a Little Bit of Competition)! 😉🏆

What an unforgettable day at our Annual Potjiekos Competition! Despite the strong winds trying to steal the show, our congregation showed up in true strength and numbers, proving that nothing can dampen our gees! 💨🔥

A massive shout-out to all 7 sections of our congregation who brought their absolute best to the fires today. The spirit of unity, laughter, and friendly rivalry was in full display as every section put their heart, soul, and secret recipes into their pots.

From the mouth-watering aromas filling the air to the incredible warmth and fellowship shared around every table, the entire day was a true celebration of unity.

To everyone who cooked, supported, tasted, and braved the breeze to spend the day together—thank you for making today such a resounding success. You brought the energy, the joy, and the love that makes our congregation so special!

*Respecting and preserving life*

On Sunday, 30 August 2026, the divine service was conducted by the Rector Priest Michael Bezuidenhoudt, accompanied by Priest Robert Adams.

As basis for the divine service, the bible text was taken out of Exodus 20 verse 13:
*You shall not murder.*

Message
*God alone is Lord over life and death.*

Summary
■ The Fifth Commandment serves to protect human life.
■ Jesus Christ expands on the meaning of this commandment: violence already has its roots in anger and hatred, which are themselves violations of God’s will.
■ We are called upon to respect, protect, and promote life.
■ Even if we at times fail in our endeavour to follow God’s commandments, the following applies to the humble: His mercy is greater than our imperfection.

*Faith in weakness*

On Wednesay, 26 August, the divine service was conducted by the District Rector Andre Lamprecht.

As basis for the divine service, the bible text was taken out of Luke 17 verse 5-6:
And the Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

Message
*Trust in God can make the impossible possible.*

Summary
■ True faith relies on God’s power, not human strength.
■ Even weak faith can overcome the impossible through trust in God.
■ Even seemingly insignificant acts of faith can bring about change in suffering and in relationships.
