Sit, Walk, Stand
Scripture: Ephesians 2:6
“And raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
The Christian life does not begin with a great do. It begins with a great done.
When God created Adam on the sixth day, Adam’s very first full day was God’s Sabbath rest. Adam entered a finished work. In the same way, when we come to Christ, we enter His finished work. Jesus cried, “It is finished,” and then He sat down at the right hand of the Father.
Before we learn to walk, we must first learn to sit.
To sit with Christ means to rest in what He has already accomplished. We are accepted in the Beloved, blessed with every spiritual blessing, forgiven, loved, and seated with Him in heavenly places. We do not strive to earn His favor; we receive it by faith.
From that place of rest, we begin to walk. We walk in love, light, wisdom, and good works. Just as a fruit tree does not struggle to produce fruit but simply abides, we bear the fruit of goodness, righteousness, and truth by remaining in Christ.
Then we learn to stand. We do not fight for victory; we stand in Christ’s victory. When lies, fear, condemnation, or discouragement come, we hold our ground because our lives are hidden in Him. We resist the enemy by standing firm in the truth of who we are in Christ.
The safest place for a believer is not a method, a formula, or a tradition. It is a Person. Jesus Himself is our rest, our strength, our wisdom, and our victory.
Today, stop looking back at where you came from. You don’t live there anymore. Lift up your eyes and remember where you are seated.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in You. Thank You that I am seated with You, loved by You, and accepted by You. Teach me to rest in Your finished work, to walk in Your light and love, and to stand firm in Your victory. I desire to know You more and the power of Your resurrection working in my life. Help me to keep my eyes on You, for You are the center of it all. Amen.
