Gathered in faith, dialogue, and mission at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council Meeting held at Immaculate Conception Parish, Parow.

This gathering was especially meaningful as it marked the first APC meeting with our new shepherd, Archbishop Sithembele Sipuka, whose presence, leadership, and call to unity inspired the day’s conversations and reflections.

From prayer and fellowship to discussions on synodality, justice, and the mission of the Church, it was a grace-filled opportunity to listen, share, and journey together as the People of God.

We give thanks to all who contributed to the day and continue to serve the life of the Archdiocese with dedication and hope.

“UNITED across all our differences.”

Funeral Homily for Fr Brian Gelant

Homily for the Funeral of Father Brian Gelant Thursday, 7 May 2026 Archbishop Sipuka Readings: Acts 15:7-21 | Psalm 96 | John 15:9-11 The issue on the surface in today's first reading is circumcision, with the question of whether Gentile converts must observe the Mosaic law or not. But the real issue beneath the surface is whether belonging to the Church is determined by the cultural practice of the majority who were there first to believe in Christ, or by the gift of the Holy Spirit poured out to all, including those who came later....

Archbishop’s Homily – Re-commitment Mass for the Permanent Deacons

RE-COMMITMENT MASS WITH THE PERMANENT DEACONS OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF CAPE TOWN 03 May 2026 Archbishop Sipuka Readings: Acts 6:1-7 | 1 Peter 2:4-9 | John 14:1-12 Today's first reading was not chosen because I was going to celebrate this Mass with you. The liturgical calendar simply placed Acts 6:1-7 for this day. In my view, this is not a coincidence but providence because this passage is nothing less than the founding moment of the order of Deacons....
