Let’s take a trip back to 1967! Sister Francine of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart shares some of her “know-how” in catechetical instruction with third-year theology students at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio.

It's time to get to know our seminarian Jake Huzyak!

These fun facts are a great way to learn more about the person behind the collar-to-be - from favorite foods and hobbies to hidden talents and interesting stories!

Be sure to keep our Seminarian of the Week and all of our seminarians in your prayers and they continue their journey of discernment.

Coming to a parish near you! 📬

We’re excited to announce that our 2026–2027 seminarian posters are hot off the press and are now being sent to parishes throughout the Diocese of Youngstown! And this year, we’re even more excited to introduce a new poster featuring our five men who are currently in formation for the permanent diaconate!

As these posters make their way into our parishes, we invite you to take a moment to learn the names and faces of these men and, most importantly, keep all of our seminarians and men in diaconate formation in your daily prayers. Your prayers make a difference as they discern and prepare to serve the Church. Please pray for them—and pray for more young men to answer the Lord’s call!

Each year, the seminary chooses a theme for the academic year. This year’s theme is “Fraternity.” Last night, a group of our seminarians gathered for dinner in Cleveland’s Little Italy—an evening of good food, great fellowship, and fraternity at its best!

As a new school year begins, we take a look back to see how Catholic education has long played a vital role in fostering vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

In 1962, Ursuline High School in Youngstown celebrated a record number of graduates answering God's call to the priesthood. To mark this extraordinary milestone, the newly ordained diocesan priests—all proud Ursuline alumni—returned to their alma mater for a special visit, inspiring the next generation of young men to consider God's call. Today we take a look back at another historic moment in the story of vocations in the Diocese of Youngstown.

Featured here is an article from The Catholic Exponent sharing the joyful news that The Rev. J. P. Ashton and The Rev. J. P. O’Connor would be ordained priests in Rome, Italy, for service to the Diocese of Youngstown. Ordained far from home, these two men would soon return to dedicate their lives to serving the faithful of our diocese as priests of Jesus Christ.
