Twas the night before VBS, when all through the church,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a perch.
The classrooms were ready, the hallways were bright,
Waiting for children to walk in tomorrow night.
The decorations were hung with excitement and care,
The signs and the stations were placed everywhere.
The leaders were dreaming of laughter and fun,
Of games, songs, and stories of God’s precious Son.
The lights they were shining, the rooms had a glow,
A place full of wonder where kids soon would go.
The snacks were all waiting, the volunteers too,
Preparing to share God’s love pure and true.
When out in the hallway there came such a sound,
A feeling of joy that was spreading around.
It wasn’t a mouse or a creature at all,
It was God’s love, already filling the halls
Tomorrow the children will come through the door,
To learn about Jesus and worship Him more.
So tonight we are praying, we’re trusting His plan,
For every young heart and each little hand.
The night before VBS, the church may seem still,
But God is already moving His will.
For soon it will fill with laughter and praise,
As we shine His light through these VBS days!
