"Several years ago, while serving a church in California, we held an open forum for divorced people. One divorced woman said, “When I needed the church the most, it was not there for me.” More recently, a church magazine quoted a prisoner convicted of a serious crime as saying, “In my moment of greatest need, my church family abandoned me.”

It’s easy to walk right past people who are burdened—sometimes because we don’t know, and other times because we don’t want to be bothered. Thank God, though, that there are many church members who make it their business to carry the burdens of others. Some go out of their way to invite someone for dinner who has no family. Others faithfully pray for people they know who are dealing with hardships, and some send a card to let people know that someone is thinking about them. Still others faithfully call on people who can’t get out. One dairy farmer I know sent 10 cows to a fellow church member whose dairy farm was struggling.

And that, according to Galatians 6:2, is the way things should be. We are to carry one another’s burdens. When you find yourself in church, take a look around and try to see who might need you. Go through your church directory, and send a card to or pray for someone who is carrying a heavy load. Reach out to people in your local community also. And keep fulfilling the law of Christ by showing his love.

Lord, open our eyes to see the burdens of others, and open our hearts to reach out in whatever ways we can. For Jesus’ sake, Amen." https://todaydevotional.com/devotions/do-we-carry-each-others-burdens

Day 13 of the 21 Day Challenge
“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
Heavenly Father, You know my every need. When I draw close to You in prayer, I believe You hear me. I want to trust You completely with things I am bringing to You in prayer … relationally, financially, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Help me remember I can cry out to You in every situation, big and small. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Day 12 of the 21 Day Challenge
“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.” Psalm‬ 145‬:3‬ (ESV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Effective and powerful prayer doesn’t start with perfect words, and while casting our cares on God is a faithful practice (1 Peter 5:7), not every prayer starts with listing off our requests. As we pray, let’s first focus on who God is and what He is capable of doing in our lives.

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for being greater than anything I could ever ask for from You. I pray for a heart, mind and words that revere and honor who You are and the power You hold. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When You Can’t Take Care of It
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)
Draw near to God’s throne of grace. In doing so, you will find all the help you need.

Heavenly Father, thank You that as Your child, I can be certain of Your care. I never need to question if You are able or willing to help in my time of need. Help me believe You care about and will take care of me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

Day 11 of the 21 Day Challenge
Dear Jesus, I’m tired. I need You to strengthen my faith in the difficult circumstances I face. Help me to remember You are in complete control so that even when I don’t understand or cannot see a way out, I can know You are with me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:2-3 (NKJV)

Day 10 of the 21 Day Challenge
The Holy Spirit can also lead us to spiritual mentors: Think about a faithful woman whose life and maturity you admire — maturity in age, season or experience — who demonstrates what it looks like to follow Jesus in the everyday things. Then consider humbly asking her to take you under her wing for genuine discipleship.

Father, we thank You for never designing us to walk the road of discipleship alone. Send us teachers who are faithful in the way of Jesus and who demonstrate what walking with Jesus looks like in our daily lives. And keep our eyes open to see and our hearts soft to receive what You want them to teach us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Later, when Jesus was alone with the twelve disciples and with the others who were gathered around, they asked him what the parables meant.” Mark 4:10 (NLT)

Day 9 of the 21 Day Challenge
"And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst." Exodus 25:8 (ESV)
The presence of God is permanent, and wherever we go, He goes. But may we remember that it’s up to us to move through the ordinary places of our lives with the awareness that God is with us. This is holy ground. God is here.

Thank You, God, that because of the cross, we can enjoy Your presence with us wherever we go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A few summers ago, my husband, Kris, and I had a church reach out to us about hosting their Sunday church service on our farm for a few weeks while they found somewhere new to meet.

Day 8 of the 21 Day Challenge
I’ve found that it is in those challenging situations, when we feel surrounded by the enemy’s army, that we are able to switch to faith-vision. And if we hold on to God through the process, we see that His plans do work out in the end. The credit finally gets processed. It actually works together for our good.

So, friend, be encouraged: There’s more to your life than you can see.

Lord God, I desire to trust You with all of my heart. Help me to rest in knowing that You are working on my behalf in spite of how my situation looks to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.’ Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)

Day 7 of the 21 Day Challenge

You are worthy.
You are strong.
You’re going to make it through this.
You’re going to be better than okay.

Lord, walking through seasons of suffering is often more than I can handle. Help me look for You in my daily life. On days when I’m overwhelmed and life feels unfair, help me choose worship over bitterness. I want to remain committed to hope that can only be found through You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
