After Jesus describes how to reconcile with a brother who has sinned, what promise does He give to the community of believers?

Catholic Connection: Jesus teaches that reconciliation is not merely a human effort, it is a sacred act carried out in His presence. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Christ’s promise reminds us that the Church’s work of healing, forgiveness, and unity is always supported by His abiding presence. Authentic communion is possible because Jesus Himself stands among us.

Jesus became man for several reasons: In order to save us by reconciling us with God, so that we might know God's love, to be our model of holiness and to make us partakers of the divine nature.
⁣
Humankind needed to be reconciled with God after the original sin of Adam and Eve and the personal sins humans commit. Jesus brought about this reconciliation.
⁣
His life, death and resurrection (what we call "the Paschal Mystery") testify to the great love that God has for us, and so do creation, his continued presence in the Church, the sacraments -- especially the Eucharist -- and his promise to come again at the end of the world.
⁣
Jesus invites us to be holy by imitating him. In so doing, we reflect God's holiness and witness to Trinitarian love. By sharing in God's divine nature through sanctifying grace, we become holy. Great saints and ordinary holy people -- fathers, mothers, friends -- through the ages testify to the holiness that God shares with those who love him.

The word novena refers to nine of something. Traditionally it's a nine-day prayer, but it can also be a prayer of nine hours, or nine weeks or simply nine repetitions.
⁣
Novenas take their inspiration from Scripture. After Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary spent nine days in prayer in the upper room: "All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers" (Acts 1:14). Then, at the end of their "novena," on the feast of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon them, filling them with supernatural gifts.
⁣
Whether they are prayers of thanksgiving or petition, novenas by their very form remind us of our dependence on Christ, and allow us to ask -- in a manner united to the first foundations of our Church -- for the Holy Spirit to come to assist us.
⁣
One of the best ways to pray a novena is to pray with the whole Church. Around the liturgical calendar, various feasts have traditional novenas assigned to them. In particular, there's a Pentecost Novena, a Christmas Novena, a Novena of the Immaculate Conception and the Divine Mercy Novena, which is prayed beginning on Good Friday.
