April 26, 2026 - Pilgrim Church celebrated Earth Day, and we participated in an exciting new program with the National Wildlife Federation to encourage congregants to plant native plants at home. Native plants protect people and wildlife because they are suited to the soil and weather of Maryland and Washington, DC. They provide food and homes for local wildlife and help the soil to filter water, which protects our local streams from pollution and flooding.

Earth Day Native Plant Giveaway
Pilgrim Church is participating in an exciting new program with the National Wildlife Federation to encourage congregants to plant native plants at home. The purpose of Sacred Grounds is to help people and wildlife by planting native plants on our congregation grounds and at members’ homes. Native plants protect people and wildlife, because they are suited to the soil and weather (e.g. rainfall) of Maryland and Washington, DC. They provide food and homes for local wildlife and help the soil to filter water, which protects our local streams from pollution and flooding. On Sunday, April 26 to celebrate Earth Day, we will be giving away native plant starter kits with 3 plugs.
