Ni**od! One of Pastor Rachel's favorite pieces, played by Bryan Higgins-Moe, an organist from Antigo. Love his two tablets instead of sheet music, just a tap to turn pages. Here's the beginning of this piece, a lovely bit of meditative music to close out our series of organ videos for the 2026 Lenten Meditations. Today is the last one, 12:15 to 12:45 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Wausau.

Another piece by Dietrich Buxtahude, Freie Orgelwerke Toccata. Check out the foot pedal dancing at the beginning! Jacob Drengler, the new Kantor at Zion Lutheran Church, is awesome playing this. Join us on Friday, March 27 for the last Lenten Meditation of 2026. 12:15 to 12:45 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Wausau.

Bach walked 250 miles when he was 20 years old to study with Dietrich Buxtahude. Here Dan Larson is practicing Buxtahude's "Praeludium und Fuge", which includes some serious foot pedal dancing! Dan is a conductor, educator, and musician, and he'll be playing this piece and more at the Lenten Meditation this Friday, 12:15 to 12 :45 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Wausau.

Friends,

Due to the predicted severity of the winter storm coming through our area beginning tonight, the Session has made the wise decision to cancel the worship service tomorrow. Likely, the church office will also be closed on Monday. Please stay safe and warm, and we look forward to worshipping together next Sunday!

"Nearer My God To Thee" played by George Felty. This will be the last piece George plays at tomorrow's Lenten Meditation, held at the First Presbyterian Church of Wausau from 12:15 to 12:45 (hoping the snow stops in time!). George has planned a program of slower, thoughtful music he feels is in keeping with the Lenten season. Loved hearing him practice today.

Dan Larson practicing for Sunday afternoon's Wausau Symphony concert, which will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 8. This piece, written by Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller, will be played by Dan and the Symphony. Really looking forward to hearing it at the concert!

Organ adjustments and foot pedal dancing! Here's a clip of Mark Schroeder practicing "The Old Rugged Cross" for this Friday's Lenten Meditation program. Mark also works as an accompaniest for schools in Athens, Wisconsin.

Mark will be joined by Patrick Burkhart and Isaac Tritz this Friday for the Lenten Meditation lunchtime organ mini-concert. They are held at the First Presbyterian Church this year, on Fridays during Lent, from 12:15 to 12:45. Come join us!

Patrick Burkhart playing just a bit of "Herzliebster Jesu, was hast du verbrochen", one of the pieces he chose for this Friday's Lenten Meditation. Patrick is the Director of Sacred Music at St. Mary's Catholic Church here in Wausau. Patrick will be joined by two other organists this Friday, Mark Schroeder and Isaac Tritz.

The Lenten Meditation organ programs are held at lunch time on Fridays during Lent, from 12:15 to 12:45 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wausau.

Foot pedal dancing! Irene Beethe is such a wonderful organist, it's been a privilege listening to her practice for this Friday's Lenten Meditation. When asked if I could take a video of her feet dancing on the pedals, she told me "page 3 of the next piece will be good for that". Was she right, or what?

Come listen to her awesome program on Friday Feb. 27, from 12:15 to 12:45 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wausau. Had to miss this one? There will be other organists playing here every Friday during Lent.

Irene was assisted today by Ivan Beethe.

Friends, please be aware that there is a scam targeting members of the church. If you receive a text message that claims to be from me and asking you to go buy gift cards or any other request that seems out of place or odd, ignore it and let the church know. The number that came up was 763-355-2927. When I did a search of that number, I found that other churches had also been targeted. Be safe.

Having an old, temperamental boiler mixed with a holiday week and a part that needs to be shipped leads to a cold church.

Due to very cold temps in the sanctuary, Sunday morning worship is cancelled.

If by some miracle the part arrives and the repair people can get over to fix it yet today, I’ll post a retraction.

Stay warm, everyone!!
