Fr. Al Slowiak, our associate pastor, will be honored Sunday by Newman Catholic Schools with its Cornerstone Award, recognizing his four decades of serving the parishes and schools of the Wausau area. In this Quick Things Conversation, Fr. Tom is joined by Fr. Tom Krieg, a one-time student of Fr. Al, as they talk with Fr. Al about highlights of those many years.

THE SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OFTHE SICK will be celebrated at Saturday and Sunday morning Masses on two weekends this summer: JULY 11/12 at St. Anne and JULY 18/19 at Eastside Parishes. Watch for more information explaining this sacrament and who might want to take advantage of this opportunity. Incorrect dates were given in previous emails.

> Traffic on Bridge Street running past St. Anne is reduced to one lane in each direction and parking lot access is restricted. But, there is access. > Traffic around Resurrection is restricted during the week, but parking spaces in front of the church can be accessed. Traffic is less restricted on Sunday morning. > Reconstruction on Stark Street, the east-west street on the north side of the St. Michael campus, has begun. The city has committed to keeping one of the two parking lot entrances open throughout the project for access to Newman-St. Michael Early Childhood Center and parish purposes. The parking lot between Stark and Dekalb Streets will be accessible from Dekalb, which offers another option.

Fr. Erin Kast, SJ, who grew up in Wausau and graduated from Newman High School was ordained a priest for the Society of Jesus on Saturday in Milwaukee. Fr. Tom talks with him in this video.

ANOTHER ORDINATION OF NOTE: Fr. Bailey Peterson was ordained June 6 at St. Peter Cathedral in Rockford, Ill., with his grandmother, Margaret Jablonski of our parishes, looking on from the front row. He is the grand-nephew of Resurrection’s founding pastor, Father Steve Gross, His grandfather, Tom Jablonski, taught religion for many years at Newman
High School. Fr. Peterson's parents are Barbara and Paul Peterson.

CLOSER TO HOME, our diocese will celebrate the Ordination of a new priest on Saturday, June 27 in La Crosse. Father Kyle Lang is originally from West Salem and attended seminary in Rome. Here is a link to the livestream of the Ordination Mass.

THE 2026 GOLF OUTING for Our Three Wausau Parishes & Friends will be Friday, Aug. 7 at Pine Valley Golf Course. Save the date and watch for more information.

LEGACY OF LOVE: Bishop Battersby invites couples celebrating 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th or 80th wedding anniversaries to participate in “Legacy of Love: Celebrating Decades of Married Life,” which will include Mass, pictures with the bishop and a reception. Gatherings will be at 1 p.m. July 19 in Eau Claire and 1 p.m. Aug. 9 in La Crosse. Click here to register .

FR. STEVE BRICE IS RETIRING and a celebration will be held at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point on Sunday, June 21 with Mass at 10:30, a reception from 11:30-1 and a program at 1. Margaret Jablonski of our parishes is a happy grandmother as she celebrates the Ordination to the Priesthood of her grandson, Father Bailey Peterson, on June 6 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rockford, Ill. Fr. Peterson is a priest of the Rockford Diocese, which is where he grew up. His parents are Barbara and Paul Peterson; Barbara is Margaret's daughter and grew up in Wausau. In his first assignment, Fr. Peterson will follow in the footsteps of his deceased grandfather, Tom Jablonski, a long-time Newman High School religion teacher; Fr. Peterson will be Spiritual Director of Aurora Central Catholic High School.
