We're hiring for a Nursery Ministry Coordinator for Sunday mornings!
The primary purpose of this position is to provide good-quality care and instruction for young children during worship services at First Wausau UMC. This paid position oversees the nursery ministry from 9:00 โ 11:00 am on Sunday mornings during the school year, and from 8:45-10:00 am on Sundays during the summer. Early childcare education and experience preferred. Job sharing is possible.
Duties:
โข Ensure adequate supplies are ready (available in the supply room or by request to staff)
โข Greet each child and parent(s)
โข Guide the parent or caregiver to sign the children in and write down pertinent information about the child as needed. Record parentsโ cell phone to text as needed.
โข Record attendance
โข Engage with the children in their free play
โข Organize activities such as reading stories, listening to child-friendly music, teaching simple songs of faith, playing simple board and card games, painting/coloring/drawing/craft projects, and working on puzzles
โข Follow health and safety procedures for diapering, hand washing, etc.
โข Tidy nursery room after children have left (involve children in the cleanup process)
โข When there are no children present during those regular hours, the nursery coordinator may either join the worship service or stay in or near the nursery and assist with simple tasks such as cleaning toys, refilling pew bags with childrenโs supplies, and preparing
โข Help recruit volunteers to assist in the nursery as needed
A clean background check and infant/child first aid certification are required before hiring.
Pay rate: $40 for 2 hours/Sunday during the school year and $30/1.5 hours/Sunday during the summer.
