In a world that sells us self-sufficiency and curated connection, the church is called to something deeper. Something harder. Something better.

We are so grateful for Rev. T.C. Morrow and 24 years of faithful ministry at Foundry. We carry her words with us as she begins her next chapter.

How are you going to have a potluck by yourself? You can make the best deviled eggs or the best jello salad. But the whole point of a potluck is that no one brings everything. No one has to do everything. Each person does their part.

Christianity works the same way. We learn generosity by sharing what we have. We learn humility by recognizing wisdom in unexpected places. We learn patience by working through our differences.
Christian community is not always easy. But it is indeed where we belong.

I do not need to repent for who I am as a le***an and a beloved child of God. I do not need to repent for supporting my fellow trans Americans and others being demonized and treated so cruelly right now.
But we do need repentance as a nation.

Repentance from fear and division. From greed and lies. From warmongering and violence. From the scapegoating of trans people, immigrants, non-Christians, and anyone deemed as other. From failing to uphold the common good.

Uniformity is not the goal. Faithful interdependence is. Honoring diversity is biblical.

Faith is not just something we hold in our heads. It is something we live with our hands, our habits, our choices, and our courage.

This is what discipleship looks like at Foundry. Join us Sundays at 9AM and 11:15AM, or worship with us online at foundryumc.org.

Many of us assume that if God is going to call us, we need to be somewhere else first. More faithful. More prepared. More certain. More spiritually mature.

But Mark tells us Jesus calls people in the middle of life. As they are. Nets in hand. Just showing up to work.

The church has sometimes been tempted to follow success, fear, nostalgia, or outrage instead. Whatever gives us belonging without transformation.

That is not discipleship. Discipleship is being shaped by the one we follow.
