Join us tomorrow, August 9th for a birthday celebration! 🥳

The Discipleship Council hosts a small reception celebrating birthdays on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Those celebrating their birthday within that month are invited to a brief reception immediately after Worship service in one of the classrooms in the Children's Church area. Guests will receive a small gift along with a treat!

Silence from God in response to a prayer does not mean no. Keep praying. Meditate on Matthew 15:21-28.

Change can bring uncertainty, but it can also make room for new growth.

As we look ahead, we are reminded that our hope is not rooted in changing circumstances, but in a faithful God who continues to work through His people.

Because of your generosity, young leaders are growing, families are finding support, and our community continues to experience care, connection, and hope through the ministries of The Emory Fellowship and the Beacon Center.

Thank you for walking this journey with us and for helping make God's work visible in our community.

If you feel led to continue this mission, you can give using the link in our bio or visit emoryfellowship.org/give

August's health & wellness challenge is Exercise Snacks! 🤸🏽‍♂️

You may ask: what are Exercise Snacks? They are brief bouts of safe and high-intensity exercises dispersed throughout the day from 20 seconds to 30 seconds, about 3 times per day, and about 3-4 times per week.

Types of Exercises may include:

▪️Squats
▪️Jumping jacks
▪️Sprints up the stairs
▪️Lunges
▪️Wall/knee or regular push-ups
▪️High knees
▪️Burpees
▪️Calf raises
▪️Chair squats
▪️Or whatever you are comfortable doing as long as you challenge yourself!

Benefits:
Exercise Snacks reduce all-cause mortality, improve cardio health, and can offset the detrimental effects of prolonged sitting on metabolic outcomes. Other benefits include improved glucose regulation, especially if done 20-30 minutes before or after eating a meal, and they are easily accessible, because you can do them anywhere!

Here is how you can get started

🔹Week 1: start with 30 seconds of any of the exercise snack exercises, and do them morning, mid-day and evening three times per week.
🔹Week 2 -4: gradually increase your time and intensity each week varying the various exercises of your choosing. Remember good form and stay safe.

What a night. 🖤

Our 2nd Annual Gala, "Excellence Through Resilience: Where Fullness Meets Community," brought our Emory family together for an unforgettable evening of celebration, remembrance, and gratitude.

We honored Lillette Campbell and Hazel Broadnax, two women whose faithful service has shaped the Brightwood community for decades. We celebrated our high school and college graduates, the young leaders carrying our future forward. And we held close the memory of Trenny Jefferson, whose love and spirit continue to guide us.

To every sponsor, donor, guest, and volunteer who made this night possible: thank you. Because of you, we can keep feeding our neighbors, keep pouring into our youth, and keep housing our community. Your generosity is helping people across our community live WHOLE lives.

This is what fullness meeting community looks like. We are so grateful for each of you.

With love,
The Emory Fellowship

Minority Donor Awareness Month is observed every August to focus on organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation in multicultural communities, specifically highlighting African-American, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Native American populations.

The key goal for the awareness is to provide facts about transplantation and the critical need for diverse donors. This month also focuses on promoting healthy living, which will help promote disease prevention and lower the need for organ transplants.

Here are a few ways to sign up to be an organ donor:

▪️Online through Register/Me.org
▪️At your local DMV when applying for or reviewing your driver's license
▪️Using the Health App on your iPhone
