Redemption Hill Church

Redemption Hill Church It's all about Jesus. Join us Sundays at 9:00am or 5:00pm for worship at 400 D St SE. Redemption Hill is a community of people who love Jesus and love our city.

Under the vision and leadership of Pastor Bill Riedel, Redemption Hill was launched by a few pasionate people in August 2011. Since then God has continued to open doors as Jesus has continued to build His church. We gather weekly at 4th & D St SE for worship and our members scatter throughout the DC metro area. We have grown to have Community Groups meeting throughout the city as well as in nearby

Maryland and northern Virginia. We are excited to see what God will continue to do through us, by the power of the Holy Spirit and for the sake of His glory. Are you ready to be a part of the story?

Redemption Hill is committed to intentionally equip members of the church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to do the work of ministry. RHC equips and resources members to pursue their passions and gifts as they join Jesus on His mission in our city. Ministry at Redemption Hill is deeply contextualized and reliant on the Holy Spirit to wake up sleepy Christians, save nominal Christians, and reach lost people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is not humility to underrate yourself. Humility is to think of yourself as God thinks of you. It is to feel that if we have talents, God has given them to us. And let it be seen that, like freight in a vessel, they tend to sink us low. The more we have, the lower we ought to lie. – Charles Spurgeon

We had a great time at our Annual Members Meeting last week!

We’re happy to report that we welcomed 15 new members, and that the 2026-2027 Annual Financial Plan and for Raleigh Sims to become an elder of Redemption Hill were both affirmed. Raleigh was commissioned at our Sunday Gathering earlier this week.

One of our new members shared: “As believers we are called to be involved in community and use our unique, God-given gifts to lift one another up and bring glory to God. I think it is important to live this out in a church community. I’d love to serve the church, be with the church through the hard and the good, and continue to grow in my own faith by consistently praying, worshiping, and learning together as one church body.”

We are not called to be childish, but we are called to be childlike. The hope we have is in the object of our faith- a resurrected Christ who has adopted us as sons and daughters!

Perhaps one may dare say only this, that in the immediate presence of death, and of the hopeless unbelief of his friends in the face of death, Jesus was facing that power which he had come to destroy, a power which is met by the wrath of him who is the author of life, but which could only be cast out when the author of life took the whole power of death upon himself. – Lesslie Newbigin

This life isn't always easy and facing hardships or death, we can feel overwhelmed. But when death terrifies us, Jesus gives us life.

Join us for an evening of worship and prayer in John 15: “I am the vine; you are the branches” on Sunday, June 14 at 5 PM.

After a season praying through the Fruit of the Spirit, we’ll turn to where that fruit comes from — abiding in Christ. Through praise, confession, and guided prayer, we’ll seek God together for our hearts, our churches, and our city.

Our prayer is simple: that we would be shaped into a people that would love one another well and bear much fruit here in DC, as it is in heaven.

Come as you are. Bring a friend. Let's abide in Him together.

If you want to know what the Law and Prophets have to say, listen to Jesus. He fulfills the Law and Prophets. He is the key to the whole of Scripture.

Jesus said “Blessed are the peacemakers,” because peace doesn’t just happen, it must be made, fought for, defended, and clung to like our lives depend on it.
