As the 2026 election season approaches, many churches are asking the same question: How do we encourage civic participation while remaining faithful to our values and nonpartisan in our witness?

To help answer that question, we are proud to introduce the 2026 Your Vote. Your Voice. Voter Empowerment Guide—a nonpartisan resource designed to help congregations, clergy, and faith leaders prepare for the 2026 election season. Created in partnership with NCC's member communions, this guide equips churches with practical tools for voter education, registration, civic engagement, and faithful participation in public life. Inside, you'll find Scripture resources, monthly Check Up Sunday guides, communications materials, and actionable steps to help your congregation prepare for Election Day.

The first Check Up Sunday is this weekend, June 14, focused on voter education.

Our vote is part of how we bear witness in the public square, and this guide offers tools to help the Church live that witness faithfully.

In a time when questions of access, justice, and participation continue to shape the life of our democracy, the Church is called to more than observation—it is called to faithful witness.

NCC has released the 2026 Your Vote. Your Voice. Voter Empowerment Guide, a nonpartisan resource designed to equip congregations across traditions to engage voting not as partisanship, but as stewardship, discipleship, and public responsibility.

Grounded in Scripture and shaped by NCC’s long-standing commitment to justice in the public square, this guide speaks into issues of voter access, civic participation, and the moral responsibility to ensure every voice is heard.

Swipe left to read a message from Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, NCC President & General Secretary, introducing the heart of this work and the urgency behind it.

June 5 Is National Gun Violence Awareness Day

A statement from the “NCC Resolution on Rampant Gun Violence and Mass Shootings,” May 2023:

As faith leaders in America, it is incumbent on us to address the escalating plague of gun violence in our nation. It is necessary and reasonable to act quickly and decisively because we do not have to live like this.

NATI-RETI 2026 is a fully immersive residential theological learning program designed as a pilgrimage across borders — bringing together emerging Christian leaders from the United States and Canada for deep theological reflection and spiritual fellowship.
Drawing inspiration from the World Council of Churches’ Global Ecumenical Theological Institutes (GETI) — which have gathered emerging theologians in Busan, Arusha, Karlsruhe, Abuja, and Wadi El Natrun — NATI-RETI adapts this proven model of immersion and dialogue to the specific context of North America-Turtle Island.
This initiative marks a significant renewed chapter in cross-border collaboration, creating a shared platform to engage the deep intersections of faith and public life, and to nurture the visible unity of the church. Application Deadline Extended to June 5th!

Today we honor and celebrate the birthday of our dynamic, spirit-led leader, NCC President and General Secretary, Bishop Vashti M. McKenzie. Please join us in sharing your birthday wishes below!

"Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be arrogant, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." (Romans 12: 15-18 NRSVue)

In observance of Missing Children’s Day (May 25), we remember with prayerful hearts the children whose whereabouts remain unknown and the families and communities that carry the weight of that absence each day. Scripture reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and that not one of His little ones is forgotten (Luke 12:6–7).

On this Memorial Day, we pause to affirm the sanctity of life and remember those whose lives have been lost—in war, in the ravages of conflict, or in the carnage of injustice. We honor their memory with a renewed commitment to peace, righteousness, justice, and love.

We also remember the grief carried by families and communities, trusting in the promise that “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). May God’s comfort surround all who mourn, and may His justice awaken in us a deeper resolve to work for a world where peace prevails.

Let us hear the call of the prophet in Isaiah 2:4 anew. Until that day comes, may we be faithful stewards of remembrance, living in ways that honor life by seeking reconciliation, pursuing justice, and walking humbly with our God.
