Washington Community Fellowship

Washington Community Fellowship is a Christ-centered, multi-denominational faith community.

WCF is a worshiping community that values:

Reconciliation: living out restored, transformed and loving relationships between God and us, our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and institutions. Diversity: respecting the variety of denominations, backgrounds, traditions, cultures and ages that come together in the body of Christ. Community: evidencing invitation, joy, freedom and healing through lov

ing and honest relationships, mutual submission and intimacy with God and others. Discipleship: nurturing faithful obedience to Jesus according to God’s word and by the Spirit with commitment to evangelism, spiritual disciplines and service. Racial Justice: addressing prevalent and specific attitudes, behaviors and structures that deny opportunities and power because of racial identification. Leadership: providing spiritual oversight and exercising mutual accountability in all areas of our congregational vision, mission, core values and strategies. Neighborhood Relevancy: responding to the surrounding needs and challenges as we work with others for the neighborhood’s common good and well-being. Gifting: discerning God’s call and vocation for our lives by the use of gifts, regardless of race, class, educational and economic background, gender and age. Stewardship: being faithful managers of all that we are and have in service to God and humanity. Connections: fostering relationships of mutuality and responsibility within our local settings and beyond-denominationally, nationally and globally.

What kind of person are you 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜?

The beast of empire works not only through coercion but through 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧, 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚, 𝙙𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, and 𝙘𝙮𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙢.

This beast can form us into beasts ourselves — but the Way of the wounded lamb shapes us from and for 𝕤𝕒𝕔𝕣𝕚𝕗𝕚𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕝 𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖.

Jesus offers us an invitation to live faithfully within systems of empire. Where does empire live in you, and how can you resist?

In conversations about legal rights, Scripture keeps pulling us back into communal responsibility.

As followers of Jesus, our freedom is not freedom 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 obligation, but freedom 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚.

On Sunday, May 17, we’re excited to welcome 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙗𝙤 as our guest speaker! Christophe is a Rwandan peacebuilder and the Founder and Executive Director of 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 (CARSA, ), a faith-based organization in Kigali dedicated to reconciliation and community transformation after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Christophe is married to Diane, a sociologist and mental health practitioner, who will also be with us.
