St. Monica & St. James Episcopal Church - Capitol Hill We are an Anglo-Catholic parish on Capitol Hill. All of God's children are accepted and loved here.

We take pride in our diversity and our oneness in the Holy Spirit. The Mass, celebrated with timeless word and tradition, binds us to God and one another. We are on Capitol Hill, close to mass transit, vibrant city life and national monuments.

Crafternoon at Saint Monica & Saint James is coming up! 🧶

Join us this Saturday (June 27) from 12–4 pm for a cozy afternoon of knitting, crochet, and fiber arts in the beautiful Saint Monica & Saint James Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill.

All skill levels welcome! Bring a project, swap tips, meet fellow crafters, and help us “loop” community together!

We’re also collecting handmade baby blankets, hats, and garments for immigrant and refugee families through the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. Washable, newborn-friendly yarns are especially appreciated.

Please do not bring spillable crafts.

Join us Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 pm for a midweek Holy Eucharist with hymns to honor Frances Perkins.

The first woman in a U.S. Cabinet position and a devout Episcopalian, Perkins helped shape Social Security, the 40-hour work week, and minimum wage. Her faith was the force behind her tireless advocacy for the dignity of labor and the protection of the vulnerable. 

The service will be contemplative and joyful, with prayers for social justice. Stay after for a light dinner; it’s a wonderful opportunity to continue the conversation about how we can live out the “Beloved Community” in our own neighborhood today!
