Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, October 28 will be Westside’s own United States Congressman Zach Nunn. Zach will be accompanied by the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Mike Johnson. Under Speaker Johnson’s leadership Congress has repeatedly passed important common sense conservative legislation despite intense liberal opposition.
Our Third Congressional District is considered one of the most competitive districts in the entire nation. Not only does Zach Nunn have a great record working for Iowans in Congress, he also has a long record of winning tough elections. He was first elected to the Iowa House in a district that had long been a Democrat stronghold. After that he won a Senate seat that had been even more Democrat. He then defeated an incumbent Democrat Congresswoman. Last election liberal national Democrats targeted Zach and the vaunted Iowa Poll suggested Iowans preferred a Democrat by a seven point margin. Just a few days later Zach won reelection by almost 4 percentage points.
Once again national Democrats are targeting Zach Nunn. They believe if they defeat Zach they will also gain control of Congress.
Once again Zach will defeat their handpicked liberal lackey. But he could use our help.
Iowa and Speaker Johnson need Zach Nunn in Congress.

THERE WILL NOT BE A WESTSIDE CONSERVATIVE CLUB MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21.
Our next meeting will be on our regular scheduled day, Wednesday, October 28. This will be our final regular scheduled meeting prior to the election and our speaker will be Westside’s own Congressman ZACH NUNN. There also may be a few other guests joining us. See you October 28.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, October 14 will be Senator Chuck Grassley, President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate and third in line of succession to the President. Senator Grassley is serving his eighth term in the Senate. He also served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is the longest serving Republican member of Congress in our country’s history. He is a great national leader who also knows how to win tough elections.
Senator Grassley chairs the Senate Judicial Committee where he led the successful confirmation efforts of three Supreme Court Justices, giving the Court a conservative majority. He also is a past Chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee. The Senator additionally serves on the Agriculture and Budget Committees, living up to his campaign slogan “Grassley Works”.
Every year since his first election he has held public meetings in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. Presidential candidates touring our state now refer to this as “doing the full Grassley”.
The Senator and his wife Barbara live on their family farm near New Hartford. He is one of the few farmers currently serving in Congress.
Senator Grassley earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, September 30 will be Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird. Brenna made history when she defeated the longest serving Attorney General in United States. She was the first Iowa Republican elected AG since 1979. Prior to her election Attorney General Bird served as Legal Counsel to the Iowa Governor and also was Chief of Staff for an Iowa Congressman. She also served as County Attorney for Fremont and Audubon Counties and became the Guthrie County Attorney in 2018. She was elected President of the Iowa County Attorneys Association by her peers.
She has repeatedly provided effective conservative legal leadership at both the state and national levels.
Brenna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago where she was an editor of the Law Review.
Brenna and her husband Bob live with their son on their farm in southeastern Guthrie County.

We are NOT currently scheduled to meet on Wednesday, October 7. Senator Chuck Grassley will be our Wednesday, October 14 speaker.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, September 23 will be Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, who is serving his eighth year leading the nation’s top agriculture producing state. Iowa leads the nation in the production of corn, pork and eggs and runs a strong second in soybeans. He is also a strong advocate for water and soil conservation as Iowa annually sets new records for practices such as cover crop usage.
Mike was first elected Secretary of Agriculture in 2018 and re-elected four years later. He previously served five years as Iowa’s deputy state secretary of agriculture. Before that he spent thirteen years working in the agriculture industry. He grew up on his family farm in Cylinder and continues to be involved in its operation.
Secretary Naig attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake and earned degrees in biology and political science.
Mike and his wife Jaime have three sons, Mitch, Zach and Joe.
