Early this morning, the town of Corning was hit by a major weather event. Corning First Presbyterian Church is asking for volunteers to help clean up. Bring your chainsaw, work gloves, and/or heavy duty trash bags and meet at Corning Presbyterian Church at 9:00 am on Friday, June 12. From there, we will form work crews to help residents move debris from their property to the curb for pickup.

Please contact Erica MacCreaigh if you can lend assistance and we'll see about arranging carpools. It's muscle time!

☀️ Day Camp is just around the corner!☀️

Central Presbyterian Church Day Camp runs June 22–26, right here at Central Presbyterian (3829 Grand Ave, Des Moines).

Open to kids who have completed K–5th grade, camp runs 9:00 AM–4:00 PM each day, with check-in beginning at 8:30 AM. The cost is $75 per camper, and lunch and afternoon snacks are included.

Teens in 7th grade through age 15 can register as junior counselors, and volunteers 16 and up are welcome too!

The Synod of Lakes and Prairies gathered April 26-28 at Mount Olivet Conference and Retreat Center in Farmington, Minn. for its annual spring meeting! 🌿

Here are some highlights from our time together:
📋 New Strategic Plan - The Synod adopted a new Mission, Purpose, Values, and Strategic Directions plan, shaped by two years of input from churches, leaders, and mission partners across the region. The plan centers on vitality, effectiveness, and belonging.

🏙️ GA 227 is coming! - General Assembly will be held at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, June 27-July 2, 2026. Community Day on June 27 kicks things off with a public witness walk focused on gun violence prevention: Healing Not Harm: A Walk to End Gun Violence. The Synod will have a booth at the ministry fair!

💬 Hope in Times of Chaos - A powerful panel reflection reminded us that hope is found in people who tell the truth and refuse to disappear.

📅 Save the date - Our next Synod Meeting is September 27-28, 2026, online.

Summer camp is coming! Students who have completed grades 1–12 are invited to join us for Fun and Friends Camp, July 8–11 at Camp Wesley Woods in Indianola, IA!
Registration is open now. The cost is $300, with limited scholarships available. Payment is due upon arrival, or checks made out to "Presbytery of Des Moines" can be mailed with your registration forms to:

What did you learn in Sunday School?

In a recent sermon shared by the Presbytery of Des Moines, Rev. Ken Rummer reflects on two lessons that stayed with him from childhood. One still rings true, and one needed rethinking.

From the familiar song reminding us that Jesus loves all the children of the world, to the realization that our images of Jesus are often shaped more by culture than history, this reflection invites us to see God’s love more clearly.

As Peter discovers in Acts 10, God shows no partiality. God’s love extends across every nation, every race, every person.

What might it look like for us to see the world in living color through God’s eyes?
