Each day, no matter what happens, let’s put our trust in God. He promises to strengthen and protect us if we stay close to Him. Does that mean we’ll never face troubles, persecution, illness, injury, or death? No, we know these things happen in our world. But we are promised that He will be with us no matter what we go through in life, that He will give strength to our hearts and souls to keep striving for what is right, to keep living for Him, and to help us through whatever temptations and struggles Satan throws at us. You see, the victory is ultimately ours if we belong to God, because He promises to walk with us through this life, and to take us to heaven with Him for eternity when our life here is over. Trust our faithful God, He is still at work!

God will meet all our needs — what a great promise! Notice Paul does not say God will meet all our desires, all our wants, all our dreams. We can’t just “have anything we want”. But He has already given us what we need to have life with Him, which is what really matters, isn’t it? He gave us a Savior, His Son, so that we might be forgiven of our sin. He gave us His Word to guide how we live and teach us how to become His. When we give our lives to Him, He gives us His Holy Spirit to live in our hearts. And He gave us the church so that we can be a family and a support to each other, and His hands, feet, ears, and mouth in this world. And He gave us unparalleled beauty in His Creation all around us. Really, what more do we need?

In the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, Paul tells us what love is. We learn that we can have all kinds of possessions and abilities, but if we don’t know how to love, they do us no good. And most of all, we learn that love is not just a feeling, but an action. Read verses 4-7, and you’ll see the kind of things love does and does not do. How do we learn to love like this? We learn it from a Savior who loved us so much that He took action — He freely sacrificed Himself so that we can be forgiven of our sins and have the hope of eternity with Him. Let’s make it our aim each day to learn and show this kind of love in our lives. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

God has promised to never leave us in our struggles — our hurt, our loss, our illness, our disappointment, our sin. All we need to do is reach out to Him, grasp His hand, and hold tightly — no hesitancy, no doubt. He is always there, and He has promised He will never let us go. Are you holding His hand today?
