“How Will They Hear?” — Romans 10:14–17
Romans 10:14–17 (CSB)
How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. … So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.
Devotional
Paul does not just preach truth. He shows us the entire process of how God reaches people and brings them into salvation. It is like he opens the door and lets us see every step of how a person moves from “I do not know Jesus” to “Jesus saved me.” Every step matters.
But here is the part we often skip.
Paul is not talking only to pastors or adults.
He is talking to the entire church, and that includes you.
Step 1: People call on Jesus to save them.
No one begins life in a relationship with God. Every person you know must personally call on Jesus.
Step 2: People cannot call unless they believe.
No one calls out to someone they do not trust. Belief is the beginning of everything.
Step 3: They cannot believe unless they hear.
Faith does not grow from good vibes or good intentions.
Faith starts when someone hears the truth about Jesus.
Step 4: They cannot hear unless someone tells them.
This is where you step into the story.
God’s plan for reaching your friends and your generation runs directly through His people.
Not through angels.
Not through trending posts.
Not through random luck.
Through you.
The message does not move unless someone carries it.
People do not hear unless someone speaks.
Step 5: They cannot speak unless they are sent.
If you belong to Jesus, you are already sent.
Jesus settled that in Matthew 28.
You do not need a special title or a stage.
You only need a heart that says, “Yes Lord.”
Where Teens Fit In
You might feel young, nervous, or unsure of what to say. Paul is not giving a list of qualifications. He is describing a chain reaction.
God sends.
You speak.
Someone hears.
They believe.
They call out to Jesus.
He saves.
Your voice matters more than you think.
Every invite.
Every small conversation.
Every decision to be bold instead of silent.
Every moment you say, “Jesus changed me.”
These moments are part of someone else’s salvation story.
Your obedience might become the reason someone else meets Christ.
Final Encouragement
You do not save anyone. That is Jesus' job.
Your responsibility is simply to share.
And when you do, Paul says your feet, your steps, your life choices, your presence at school, your courage, all of it is beautiful in the eyes of God.
Because you are carrying hope.
Because you are carrying Jesus.
Because you are helping others hear.
So today, ask God for one simple thing.
“Lord, give me someone to share You with today.”
Then go. You are already sent.
