ORDER OF WORSHIP
Welcome to our Facebook worship service. With the Strawberry Festival in full swing, parking is at a premium in downtown Troy…so we are happy to be able to offer this service as an alternative to in-person worship services.
CALL TO WORSHIP
We gather together to worship the living God.
The God who welcomes our attention and allegiance.
The God who extends hospitality to us and invites us to extend hospitality to others.
The God whom we serve and worship.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us worship God together.
OPENING PRAYER
Lord, as we join in worship today, we bring with us our cares and concerns, our joys and our sorrows. Touch our hearts with your nurturing love. Make us ready to become your ever-faithful disciples and allow us to extend the hand of welcome and friendship to all whom we meet. Sometimes, Lord, we shy away from reaching out, turning away from the pain of others, and protecting our own lives. Lord, heal us and give us strength and courage to always be welcoming others in your name. Amen.
HYMN 490 vs. 1-2 – Sister, Let Me Be Your Servant
MORNING PRAYERS
SCRIPTURE - Matthew 10:40-42
40“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; 42and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”
This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
