I have been working on a side project while writing my book: the interesting connections between Trump, Evangelicals, and the Antichrist. It is finally complete and deep enough that I published it on my website, where comments can be made as well as comments here. It was sparked by an interesting piece on the subject Thom Hartmann did, but I think goes much deeper than his post.

I obviously do not believe Biblical prophecies have a divine source in any sense. At the same time, I am fascinated by the power coherent images and attitudes have to influence people’s perceptions…

Today is Preto Velho Day in Brazil. I have cleaned my altar and lit a candle to Vovo Zeffa, (Grandmother Zeffa) the Preta Velha with whom I did many healing sessions for others years ago, and even a teeny bit here in Taos.

Most of you likely do not know what Preto Velhos and Preta Velhas are, but this YouTube is an excellent discussion of their importance. She briefly mention that people go into trance with these entities. She is right.

Brazil became the last country in the Americas to free enslaved blacks. The year was 1888. But for most Afro-Brazilians there is no reason to celebrate May 1...

The role of 'Christian Nationalists' seems a paradoxocal one for many. Trump seems the antithesis of what Christianity claims to be about. From this Pagan's perspective it is not paradoxical at all, sadly. Here is a piece I recently posted on my own FB site:

The Evangelical love affair with Donald Trump might be 2000 years in the making. Christianity has always been an unstable melding of love and generosity and forgiveness and a harsh deity who will eternally punish all who do not live up to his standards. Different Christians come down on different sides of this tension.
For 2000 years many, especially those who hate the world we live in the most, have been anticipating Armageddon and the Antichrist. For 2000 years they have been sending mental energy into this image until it has a well-developed reality at the level of thought forms. If we take Revelations reasonably literally, as this post shows, Donald Trump is an extraordinarily good image of the Antichrist, as he seems to have not one redeeming human characteristic.

But why would so-called Christians be attracted to him? Here occult insights help.

Those Christians who have the least love in their hearts and the most anger towards those unlike themselves will find an energetically compatible image here, whereas the Jesus of love and forgiveness seems weak. They are the ones most invested in end times thinking and looking forward to the end of the world and destruction of those they dislike. It is the quality of their energy and not their explicit thinking that rules. They are hard of heart, vengeful, and cruel. Rejecting Jesus’ teachings themselves, they then fall into place with their opposite, without knowing it and so support a man who fits the character of their hearts.

They are attracted to Trump because he epitomizes an image they have built up even whole believing they are immune to its attraction. Which they would be, if they had much love in their hearts. But Evangelicals as a group have distinguished themselves by their disproportionate approval of torture back during the times of the Iraq War and have gotten no better since. Other Christians were often appalled by their approval of torture, but could not deny the truth.

Blinded by the closure of their hearts, they perceive of Trump as doing God’s will because he promises to hurt those they dislike. This is not a traditional Christian position, but in terms of many of the cruel and violent qualities of the deity they worship, fits.
My point is not that Revelations is true. It isn't. It is that those focused on it for generations upon generations have created a thought form that attracts them even while they think they serve Jesus.

I just suggested an article I wrote on the nature of evil to a friend's FB discussion. As I looked at it again, I realized though it was written some years ago, the examples I gave are as relevant now as they were then: Israel, Palestine, and the US. I describe how evil can arise in its complete absence initially, and how to deal with it.

A friend just sent me this short movie, filmed in Puerto Rico. It concerns Yemaja (Iemanja), an Orisha (Orixa) I have long had a special connection with. One thing I miss here in Taos is being able to make offerings to Her in the ocean on a special day.

After the death of her grandfather, a young woman experiences a spiritual awakening when she is called by Yemaya, the Orisha Goddess of the Sea. Starring Princess…

A day of reckoning has come for modern-day “prophets” in the Pentecostal/charismatic movement who falsely foretold a victory for President Trump in 2020. Privately and on social media, these prophets and their thousands of followers are slugging it out in an o**y of self-blame, recriminations an...

I have a new book out that argues in practice monotheistic religions are polytheistic because monotheists always worship very different deities- as for example, the Quaker, Catholic, and Baptist deities. But modern science's critiques of religion only apply to pure monotheism, and in fact are harmonious with polytheism.
