Anandi Geroy will speak about
“Lord Shiva and the Celebration of Maha Shivratri in India”

Anandi finds great joy in the art of the story. She trained in theater at Northwestern University and went on to study Odissi, a classical dance form of India. This storytelling dance tradition is rooted in India’s ancient theatrical forms and was practiced for centuries as part of the worship in India’s largest Hindu temples. It incorporates a highly stylized vocabulary of music and movement to channel the sacred archetypes of Hindu mythology and Eastern spirituality.

Anandi lived in India for seven years, studying dance, percussion, language, culture and religion. She has taught theater and dance in India, the San Francisco Bay Area and Taos and has adapted a number of folktales from across the world for the stage. She enjoys working with children, teaching dance, theater and folk arts.
