Fond memories of veterans gathering, of Friday fish fries, weddings and a variety of live music over the years brought life to the former American Legion Hall. This location has become THE WORD, a place our community can gather, and a place where more memories are made among a comm

Jesus, thank you for revealing the Father’s love and for walking the path of perfect obedience in my place. Forgive me for the times I fail to trust your guidance. By your Holy Spirit, teach me to follow you and shape my life according to your Word. Let my words and actions reflect your love, not to earn your favor, but because I already belong to you. God, teach me to love you and the people around me. Shape my heart by your Word and guide my decisions so they reflect your will. Remind me that I am your redeemed child through Christ alone. Move me, by your grace, to show love, mercy, and compassion to those in need. Let these fruits be the work of your Spirit in me, not proof of my worthiness, but evidence of your mercy. Heavenly Father, you know how difficult it is for me to show love, especially toward those who have been unkind or have hurt others. Forgive me for the times I have failed to love as you command. Turn my heart toward your mercy, and let the love you have shown me in Christ move me to love others. When I struggle, fix my eyes on your grace and the forgiveness that covers all my sins. The Holy Ministry is given by God out of compassion for his people. Over the next three Sundays we hear Jesus’ Missionary Discourse (Matthew 10:5-42). Last Sunday we saw the unworthiness of the servants God calls by mercy. Today the emphasis is still on the Ministry of the Word, but the focus shifts from the servants to the people they serve. We see the compassion and love of God for this world, love so great that he called ministers of the Word to share his grace and mercy and foretell of the coming kingdom of heaven.

Lord God, you know me completely. You know the burdens I carry and the trials you have already brought me through. Draw near to me, and by your Word remind me that you are near even when I cannot see it. Help me to recognize your faithfulness in this season. Restore my hope and joy, and by your Spirit teach me to trust you in all things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
