Worship & the Sabbath Day
Yesterday Pastor Jef reminded us that worship isn’t something we invent — it’s our response to the God who rules over all. As the 1689 Baptist Confession says:
“The light of nature demonstrates that there is a God who has lordship and sovereignty over all.”
He walked us through four big questions:
• What is worship?
Mark 14:3–9 shows worship as costly, heartfelt devotion to Jesus.
• Should we worship?
Matthew 22:37–38 calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.
• How shall we worship?
With God-centered, Scripture-shaped, Christ-exalting obedience.
• Shall we gather?
Hebrews 10:19–25 urges us not to neglect meeting together.
Worship is a life, but the Lord’s Day anchors that life in rest, joy, and community.

This Wednesday evening, our midweek rhythm looks a little different. The Wednesday Evening Group will be gathering at the Faith in the Park concert for a night of music, fellowship, and community connection. Bring a chair, invite a friend, and enjoy the evening together. Meanwhile, GBC Youth will be hosting a fun Movie Night at the church—snacks, friends, and a great film to start off your week.

What a joy it was gathering for our annual GBC Family Cookout yesterday. The food was great, but the real highlight was the time spent visiting, laughing, and getting to know one another better. Grateful for a church family that feels like home and continues to grow closer.

What a powerful word from Pastor Jef this morning as we walked through Chapter 21 of the 1689 Baptist Confession—Christian Liberty and Liberty of Conscience.

He reminded us of the Ten Freedoms that are ours in Christ, and my heart is full thinking about the depth of what Jesus has secured for His people:
• Freedom from guilt and a clean conscience
• Freedom from God’s condemning wrath
• Freedom from the curse of the law
• Deliverance from this present evil age
• Deliverance from bo***ge to Satan
• Deliverance from the dominion of sin
• Deliverance from the suffering of affliction
• Deliverance from the fear and sting of death
• Victory over the grave
• Freedom from everlasting damnation

All of this—not earned, not deserved, but graciously given through Christ alone.

Feeling grateful, humbled, and encouraged to walk in the freedom He purchased for us. ✝️💛
