We want to express our gratitude to Pastor Schoeneck and his family for the love, care, and faithful service they have shared with our church family. Through his ministry, prayers, and leadership, Pastor Schoeneck has encouraged us, strengthened our faith, and made a lasting impact on so many lives.

We are thankful for the time God has given us to worship, serve, and grow together in faith and fellowship. While this season of ministry comes to an end, the blessings and memories we have shared will remain a treasured part of our church family.

As you begin this next chapter, we pray that God will guide your steps, surround your family with His love, and richly bless you in all that lies ahead.

As we celebrate Labor Day Weekend, we invite you to join us for worship as we gather together to praise God.

This Sunday, our sermon focus will be “Work with All Your Heart,” exploring what Colossians 3:22–24 says about the way we serve the Lord through our work and everyday lives.

What a joy it is to welcome our students and families back to St. John’s for another school year! After all the preparation, planning, and anticipation, it has been wonderful to see our classrooms and hallways filled with students again. Thank you, parents and families, for entrusting your children to us. We consider it a tremendous privilege to partner with you in educating, encouraging, and caring for these young souls.

Our theme this year is “Rooted in Christ,” based on Colossians 2:6–7: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him…” As we begin this new year together, our prayer is that everything we do at St. John’s—learning, teaching, playing, serving, succeeding, and even struggling—would be firmly rooted in Jesus and his Word.

We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for our St. John’s family this year. May God bless our students, teachers, staff, and families as together we grow deeper roots in Christ and build our lives upon him! ~ Mr. Sydow

Some churches teach that if a person follows God, God responds by granting prosperity and peace, as would only be expected. Today we see how that is nonsense. The Bible explains that if we are part of the Church of God, we will have to bear crosses.

We carry our crosses because we know that in those moments of struggle, we are forced to turn to Christ and rely on his strength.

Jesus is a real human being, the Son of Man. He is also Lord and Savior, the Son of the living God. This unexpected truth is the core of saving faith.

The opening lines of the United States Declaration of Independence boldly assert that certain truths are “self-evident”—truths accessible to human reason and widely recognized by observation of the world.

Lutherans, however, note that the most important truths revealed in the Bible are not self-evident at all. In fact, they frequently appear surprising or even contrary to human expectations.

Biblical truth is revealed by God rather than discovered by reason alone. While some truths may seem obvious to human judgment, the truths of the Bible are often unexpected.

Next week, we begin a new series and discover the unexpected truths God reveals to us. We invite you to join us for worship!

Wherever faith clings to the promises of God, doubt is always lingering. People doubt God’s care, God’s promises, or God’s providence.

The answer to doubt is not found in loud, dramatic demonstrations. The true answer to doubt is found in the still small voice of our Savior God whispering to us in his Word. Through Word and sacrament, Christ reaches out to us with nail-scarred hands, proof of his great love. Our faith is restored.
