Last Sunday we had perfect end-of-summer weather, hands raised in worship, kids in the middle of everything, and some special music that even our passing neighbors seemed to enjoy. We looked at Psalm 34 and got to hear the goodness of God out in the open! "Taste and see that the Lord is good." (Ps 34:8)

And then came the delicious part… FOOD! 😄

Plates filled, family games, conversations, plenty of laughter, and maybe a little friendly competition. It was one of those mornings where worship and fellowship just naturally spilled over in a relaxed, laid-back way.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came, served, brought food, played games, invited someone, or simply showed up and joined the fun.

This is what we love about being Aurora: doing life together, loving our neighbors, and being salt and light right where we live.

Almost 60 of us packed into T-Mobile Park to cheer on the Mariners against the Cubs — and wow, did our team deliver! Between the fireworks, the ballpark food, and just being shoulder-to-shoulder with our church family, it was an unforgettable evening.

We believe God calls us to live life in community — and that's always meant more than showing up on Sunday mornings. The early church didn't just gather to worship; they shared meals, celebrated life together, and did everyday things side by side (Acts 2:42-47). Nights like this are a piece of that same story.

Thanks for coming out and being the church together, Aurora — on and off the field! 💚

Please join us for CHURCH IN THE PARK at 10AM today. On Meridian Ave, just half a mile north from Aurora Church in Cromwell Park.

We’ll have special music, a segment for the kids, an inspiring message from Psalm 34, free food and drinks (bring a side!), and family friendly games after lunch.

Bring a blanket or camping chair (and umbrella if you’d like).

Monday night was Salty Sisters Picnic! Think golden Pacific Northwest sunset light, chairs pulled into a circle in the backyard, and the kind of laughter that happens when women who love Jesus finally get to slow down together. Plates filled with amazing food, conversations that never stopped, Kimberley leading us through a devotion on sunflowers and Gina with her guitar in hand leading in worship. Like Sunflowers, we grow best when we keep turning our faces toward the Son. 🌻

Last Sunday was another beautiful chapter in our Summer in the Psalms.

Research shows children are far more likely to stay in the faith when five adults intentionally invest in their lives — not just people who wave in the hallway, but ones who know their name, ask about their week, and pray for them by name. That is why the kids joined us in the auditorium this week! We worshiped together, young and old, as Pastor Jesslyn — with Pastor Kip’s help — led us through Psalm 139. There was something sweet about singing “Jesus loves me, this I know” together, all ages, one voice.

We also blessed Deveesh as he heads off to the Navy, and Ella de Koker as she begins studies in theology and music at Olivet Nazarene University. Ella left family and friends in Africa to join Mom and Dad here in ministry. Deveesh lost the family he once knew when he turned to Jesus and converted to the christian faith. Drew Schmidt, who left her former life to follow Jesus and lost relationships along the way, begun serving alongside Edward here at Aurora.

This week, Aurora gathered around all three — blessing Ella and Deveesh into new chapters, and surrounding Edward with love as we celebrated Drew’s memorial together. Family isn’t only the one we’re born into — it’s the one God gives us: people who stay, love, pray, and walk with us. We even captured a family photo with Edward.

What a joy to belong to a faith family where every generation matters, every story matters, and nobody walks alone.
